Corporal Works of Mercy
Everyone knows the seven sins. The seven virtues are a lot more complicated, partially because there are more than seven. One set of seven is called the seven corporal works of mercy, or seven things that the medieval religious thought would be virtuous to do for people less fortunate than us.

Heavenly Virtues
The seven heavenly virtues are composed of the combination of spiritual and natural virtues; these virtues were not defined in opposition to the seven deadly sins, but were codified at the same time.

Contrary Virtues
The seven contrary virtues are specific contrasts to the combat the seven deadly sins: kindness against envy, abstinence against gluttony, diligence against sloth, liberality against greed, chastity against lust, humility against pride, and patience against anger.
