The first goal in Mechanics history was scored by Blair Manning, assisted by Kyle Kos and Jeff Goldie on October 15th, 2004, a 4-1 loss to the Kalamazoo Wings. It was also the first power play goal for the Mechanics.
The first win in Mechanics history came on October 29, 2004 vs the Flint Generals. Matt Hunter, Joe Burton, Brad Cruikshank and Jason Norrie (2) each scored in the 5-3 victory.
The first hat trick in Mechanics history was scored by Jeff Goldie, a 6-2 win vs. the Port Huron Beacons on October 31, 2004. Goldie scored a goal in each period.
The first road win in Mechanics history came on December 17, 2004 against the Kansas City Outlaws, a 4-3 shootout victory.
The Mechanics made UHL history on February 1, 2005 when they signed NHL stars Chris Chelios and Derian Hatcher. They would add Bryan Smolinski and Sean Avery ten days later.
The first head coach in Mechanics history was Garry Unger, a former NHL great who played for the Detroit Red Wings, Edmonton Oilers and St. Louis Blues. He is a longtime record holder as the NHL's Ironman for most consecutive games played with 914.
