Minor Update
with big letters
- June 20, 2003
- Like it says its a minor
update, meaning no new models. There is a One Piece model, but
I'll wait until it is available. So what is new?
- I finished building
the Astro boy paper model today and it looks pretty good... a
few touch ups with a black and red pen and you don't notice the
white bits from a far. Being a polygonal type model (CG polygon
flattened out), there are no smooth bits and everything looks
all a bit too blocky, and its tricky to put together especially
when you make it small. I made it half its size (fit the 4 pages
on 2 A4 pages) and it was a little tricky and black and red pens
were needed.
- Megaman Battle Network
3 and Advance Wars 2: Block Hole Rising have been released and
damn am I excited or what. I haven't finished playing the first
Advance Wars yet... I'm stuck on the last boss guy. I probably
won't be playing much of any other game besides MMBN3 because
its that good. Also Splinter Cell, Jet Grind Radio, GT Advance
3, The Hulk, Daredevil and Wing Commander Prophecy have been released.
Although these games are good, I prefer MMBN. There is also a
drop-down list of the GBA and SNES games that I have and thus
recommend you should play or at least have a look at. Enjoy.
- I also found a few plastic
models that I added to my Toys
page. Including Kampher, 2 Regults, a Glaug and some others. I
have the plastic toy of the Harmony Gold Robotech Regult I bought
when Robotech was screening on tv in Australia a few years back...
I'll see if I can find a picture of it.
Omega Supreme
- June 20, 2003
- The world of mecha paper
models hasn't been very interesting lately. Only 2 new entries
in the past 2 months, which is bad. I wish the Wing or ZZ Gundam
models would surface someday soon. I've added them to my wanted
list.
From that guy who made
all those hako-clone transformers models and the bigger Constructicon
comes Omega Supreme. Like the others this is a little chunky.
It doesn't have a great deal of detail for its size compared to
say the Eva models, but I can't complain. To compensate for the
lack of high detail I build this guys models small. It makes building
it more challenging. I wouldn't recommend anything smaller than
25% though. He is supposed to have a transformable version aswell,
but it isn't finished yet, so I'd recommend waiting a little while
until the transformable version is available.
- There are a few more
gun models available also. A better Tokarev, a Desert Eagle and
a Jackal which is off some playstation game. Its a good idea to
visit the site regularly because he has a new gun at least twice
a month.
- People who are into
building models themselves should take notice of this site. http://www.suurland.com/
This guy does some really good 3D stuff in Max. He has a 'blue
prints' section on his site which has heaps of "3 view drawings"
of all sorts of real life vechiles. Unfortunately no mecha designs
or anything, but for people who want help building a 3D model
or have a go at scratch building should check this site out.
- Also there is a site
that everyone who enjoys paper model building should have bookmarked.
http://www.3dpapermodel.com.tw/
Its been around for ages, and is a pretty good place to find new
releases available to download. Its thet last source I got to
when all my others are exhausted. Go to the "new" section
on the left side to check out the new releases. |

Metal Gear Solid
Rex and Astro boy link
- May 30, 2003
- I don't know much about
Metal Gear Solid, apart from the fact that if was supposed to
be one of the best games available on PSX/PS2. Anyhow, this grabbed
my attention because its a robot. So yay for Metal Gear Solid
fans and yay for robot fans! If you still don't know what i'm
talking about there's a picture at the bottom of this message.
The website has 2 versions to download the uber hi-res version
[about 50mb of jpegs!] and the more desirable low-res version
[about 5mb total]. The only difference i can see is that the hi-res
version is much bigger... but 50mb!!! I haven't downloaded the
hi-res version myself because its well 50mb I would rather save
for something much better, for example the Macross Zero trailer!
More on that later...
- I finally put the link
to the Astro boy model i mentioned last, you all probably have
found it yourselves by now anyway.
- This isn't papermodel
related, but what the heck... there's a new Macross series in
production/or some episodes have been finished... i dunno i need
to dig up more on this, but it should be good. More veritech mecha
to drool over. It looks like it it is do be made similar to the
Zoids series. The mecha all 3dish and the rest the usual tradition
animation. Go here
for more info. I'm looking for the trailer.
Astro boy and
Monster update
- May 18, 2003
- There is a Astro boy
model available. I forgot to retrieve a link so you'll have to
wait until my next update for that, but yeah its a pretty cool
model.
- My Destroid Monster
is coming along nicely. I have re-built the body adding more detail
from what was literally a few oddly shaped cubes. Now it looks
a lot more like the real thing. Go here
to get more info and a few pictures.
- There are a few new
guns available from that guy so check out his
site, plus a colt, which i linked in the 'real'
section. The gun models are getting much better as more detail
is being incorporated.
- Its been big in the
game
section this time, with a heap of new [and old] games that have
caught my eye, including the new Megaman Zero on GBA and Macross
games on the arcade.
- There is also a few
new toys in the 'toys'
section including some cool Front Mission models and a Patlabor
toy.
- On other stuff, go to
www.theanimatrix.com
[i thats the link] and download the 4 free Animatrix shorts or
even better buy the Animatrix DVD [which includes all the 9 shorts
plus bonus stuff] which should be available soon [or now]. Its
pretty damn cool. Also all the Animatrix shorts were shown at
selected cinemas here in Sydney, Australia recently, dunno if
they are still showing, but if they are I'd suggest you check
them out while you can. Can't wait to see The Matrix Reloaded!!!
Destroid Monster!
- May 2, 2003
- Some guy posted a link
to a very cool robotech
toy site on the smartgroups papermodel group and suggested
that someone should have a crack at building the Destroid
Monster. As a second year newbie to the papermodel stuff,
I thought I'd have a crack at it. At the momment it's looking
pretty funny, as some things are a bit out of proportion. I have
made a rough body, leg and arm. I'm trying to incorporate a curved
foot, but its becoming rather difficult. I may have to settle
for something a bit more polygonal. I'm trying to keep it simple
aswell, kind of in the same style as that guy that has made the
gerwalk and jet versions of the valkyrie. I'm also going to try
and get it be in proportion with that guys valkyries so it worldn't
look funny on your shelf. Its still far from completion, but hopefully
all goes well.
- There are a few new
games I've played so check em out here.
I've also uploaded the first scene of the Pixelatrix finally.
I haven't finished the background yet... but I have an excuse.
Scroll down a bit further on the pixel page and you'll find a
heap of Transformers icons. Also the wanted
toy page is up.
- The other day while
adding a new model I noticed that some models are linked to bogus
places! A while back I was going to upload some files to a new
server thingy, but I never got around to doing it.... and I couldn't
be bothered to do it now either. I'm gonna scrap all the bogus
stuff as it just takes up too much of my time. So if a model doesn't
have a link I won't bother. Unless of course someone asks for
it. I'm thinking of scrapping a whole heap cause i'm not a server
guru guy who likes shifting files around all the time and updating
multiple pages. There is also too many pictures on my site, or
they are the wrong format or something. I'm gonna go ape with
the delete button or convert them to gifs. |

Asimo and New
VS-F1 Valkyrie
- April 25, 2003
- Asimo, it's all I have
to say really. A reliable source gave me a copy of the 1:8 Asimo
model so I will upload it as you can't find it easily elsewhere.
- The first Valkyrie I
uploaded was rather crappy. It looked a bit ok, but it wasn't
coloured, had a few design flaws and construction was far from
easy. The same guy that made the Gerwalk version has also made
a Valkyrie version! A few design changes, but pretty much everything
is the same. It has retractable wings [which it must have otherwise
theres no point], and even a nifty little stand with "VS-F1
Valkyrie" labelled on it. This has definately replaced the
previous Valkyrie model. A must build.
- This isn't news as such,
but I have finished building Eva Unit01 and I must say it sure
does look swell standing inbetween Gundam and Unit00. It was a
bit harder to build than Unit00 too. The 'wings' on the shoulders
were a bit complicated.
- If your wondering why
I haven't uploaded the Pixelatrix thing I promised a few weeks
ago, is well I haven't finished the background yet. I've been
busy building Gundam and Unit01 and making Transformers out of
pixels. Plus I was dumbfounded by the Matrix Reloaded trailer
:)
- That VoltesV model that
I mentioned doesn't have blueprints. The creator got back to me
and said he built it from scratch without creating plans. I don't
think he is going to create the blueprints anytime soon either.
- There are a few other
new pictures/links and odd models uploaded aswell, so browse around.
Also I have finally got a counter and a guest book up. So if you
want to ask me something or are requesting a model drop a note
in the guestbook, by clicking on the link at the top.
I'm also still looking for a decent free server to store some
models, mainly the big eva and gundam ones, because people are
saying that the original server is extremely slow and downloads
don't complete properly. So if you know of a good free server
that accepts all file types, drop a message in the guest book.
Also some links might not work, I have to check them all, so I
am sorry for any inconvenience.
Asimo and Voltes?
- April 12, 2003
- Asimo? Yes Asimo. I
have found a few pictures of the Honda built humanoid that can
flush my toilet and more, and have sent my probes out looking
for a copy of the plans. He will end up next to my Cam08 model
on my shelf.
- Mmm this reminds me
of Voltron... but not the tiger one that most of us know of. I
remember when I was younger there were 2 videos that I always
hired from the video store. My sister hired Care bears and I hired
Voltron and the other was this other Voltron guy. This is probably
it. I dunno, it was so long ago [hehe about 10 years]. The pictures
of it bring back memmories as a friend had the actual transformable
toy... so I need to do some digging. The site called it a Voltes
V Godaikin and is from some super robot show that was shown in
the Philippines. Anyhow there is a guy who has made a paper version
of the transformable vechiles. But like I just said, I need to
do some more digging. Look out for more on this soon.
- Some bad news. My source
that I asked about the Zelda models has come back saying that
they are no longer available as they are in back issues of a Gamecube
magazine and difficult/impossible to get. So unfortunately we
will just have to stare at the pictures. Also I forgot to upload
the sonic models. I updated the html pages, but forgot to upload
the actual jpegs. Sorry bout that. It should be up now.
SonicTeam
- April 10, 2003
- As I promised, I have
uploaded the Sonic Team models that were not easily available
for people outside Japan. It includes Sonic, Shadow a parrot and
funny looking penguin [obviously from the latest sonic game].
The same guy that gave me the sonic models also is also trying
to see if his japanese friend can dig up anything about the much
wanted zelda model . Hopefully I get some
good news in the near future.
- Other than that I haven't
much news... I've been incredibly busy building the Gundam RX-78
and now Eva Unit01, and I haven't been online for a while. That
also goes the same for the pixelatrix thing. I haven't been bothered
with creating a back ground yet and I up to my knees in paper
and glue. I have however [while i'm waiting for the next 10 or
so pages to print] created a few more animated cursors [based
on an insect theme] and started creating some of the actions [door
kick in, draw gun, flash light] for the police officers in the
next scene in the pixelatrix.
- I'm also going to try
get a feedback/guestbook/forum thing up and running and start
up a more convenient paper model community. I know there are much
larger and popular groups around, but they usually just contain
repetitive conversations about copyright laws or how to print
a new model. This guestbook will probably replace my group, as
there won't be the need for logging in or anything and a much
easier way to request models, supply links and mention new models.
I dunno... I'm going to experiment with it a bit. |
***MARCH***
Getter Robo,
Votoms Brutish Dog & SonicTeam
- March 28, 2003
- A few more models that
I downloaded from the legendary modelgundam site, Getter robo
and Brutish Dog mech. I dunno if thats the correct name for the
Getter one, but I thinks its right. If not check the picture to
see what it is. I spent ages trying to find a picture of the models,
but I only found the box pic.
- A while ago on the smartgroups
paper group someone poster a message about sonic team having a
few Sonic models. Unfortunately you had to be in Japan to get
them. But alas! as I mentioned in my last post, i was given a
copy of the models and you will able to download them and build
them along with the japanese!
- Also I have decided
not to upload files that are already available online. Why? Because
its a waste of my time, and webspace. Lately I've been looking
for 50mb of free webspace for these new models and it takes too
long so, I'll only upload files that don't or no longer exist
online. This means we will have to rely on links, which I don't
particulary like, but its much easier for me. I will try to link
directly to the file for your convenience.
- I finished the Gundam
RX-78 model the other day, and damn its fine. It stands in a corner
where my eva unit00 model was. The gundam model is pretty stable
and can easily stand on its own, although its leaning slightly
backwards. I had a problem with the unit00 model as the legs weren't
very stable. The weight of the body gave in and the legs bent
in a place or two. Now I hang unit00 from the corner that its
in, thus relieving the legs of bending again, but now i'm worried
that the fishing line that I strung it up with might tear the
paper... oh well. I'm tossing up whether to do either eva unit01
or the brutishdog model... I'm gonna leave the Zaku model for
now, until I get a new ink cartridge.
- I have sort of finished
the first scene of the Pixelatrix. I said 'sort of' because i
still need a background, which I am working on now, so another
week or so and i'll upload it.
Gundam CRAZY!
Zaku, RX-78, SDRX-93 & Eva Unit01!!
- March 22, 2003
- If you are a member
of my group you may have already had heard the news that there
are some new models out. But if not, well then you get the news
a bit later. There is a gundam modelling site [in some weird language]
and they have posted up a heap of gundam/mecha paper models. I
have been to this site before, but I didn't notice the download
paper model section. A visitor of this site told me about this,
so I thank you. Anyhow there are a heap of models to download
from there. This includes those really big ones that are hard
to come by. You'll find Eva Unit00 Prototype, Eva Unit01 Test,
Gundam RX-78, Gundam Zaku, SD Gundam RX-93 and a handful of other
models [by the name of Getter or Gatter? Dendrobium? Bruttish
Dog? a Mazinger Z head?].
- Most of us have probably
already downloaded, printed and built the Eva Unit00 model, so
I won't go into that, but we do have a new one... Eva Unit 01!
As soon as I have found the space to upload it to my site, you'll
be able to get it from here. For those that can't wait, join my
group and check the link section. You'll find it on my site as
soon as I upload it.
- This is another wanted
model that I can remove from my list below, the Gundam RX-78.
This is as big as the Eva models and the pdf is like 52 pages!!
So make sure you are stocked up on colour ink for your printer.
Also I have all the pieces to the Zaku model. A while back there
was a site which supplied the Zaku model for download, but it
kicked up a stink in the paper model community because there was
a zip file or 2 that was corrupt and thus we couldn't extract
I think it was an arm and a leg. This new site has uncorrupt copies
of the files so now the Zaku model should be up for download soon
also. There is also a Gundam model of the chibi[small] kind, SD
Gundam RX-93. This model reminds me of the plastic models that
I have found at my local Hobby Co. for 12 dollars. This model
will be uploaded before the others, mainly because of its smaller
file size. So I'll use this model as a teaser!
- As for the other models,
I don't know them by name and I downloaded the others instead.
I'll download them during the week and I'll see if they are worthy
of uploading.
- Away from the mecha
models... I have also come across a few box head models as well
as characters from the Klonoa game on GBA. Talking about game
models, some of you might know about those Sonic and Shadow models
from Sonicteam that no one can get unless you are over in Japan.
Well a somewhat friend-of-a-friend of mine got them and scanned
them for him and he has kindy passed them on to me [after a heap
of zip problems!! hehe]. So my next update will have some pictures
of them and maybe a downloadable copy.
- Away from paper models
altogther, i'm thinking of removing the game section... or maybe
trimming it a bit. All those pictures aren't good for 56k modem
users like myself. Plus my Pixelatrix animation is coming along
nicely. The first scene where agent Smith tells the cop "...your
men are already dead..." is complete. I'm now finishing off
the intro, with all the text and zooming effects. You know the
part where the camera zooms in and goes into the number '0' and
you see the matrix, well thats all trippy line work that hurts
your eyes if you look at it too much. You know when lines that
are too close together move across other lines that are too close
together and you get a weird pattern thing happening, can't remember
what that effect is called. Well thats what I've kind of done...
can't wait to show people. Scene 1 should be finished within the
next 2-3 weeks, depending on how much time I spend making the
new Gundam and Eva models!
- On other news, I'm gonna
try reduce the amount of images that I have on my site. I went
browsing my site online the other day and found that it is rather
slow and a heap of images don't load up. I've been busy building
models and haven't had the time to spend on my site so I'll be
trying to do a bit of construction and revamping in the next week
or so. Thanks to 3 huge mecha models I now have a huge chunk of
megabites to upload now [so far almost 50mb!! phwoar!] and this
means that some links might not work as I haven't uploaded the
files yet [i'm gonna need a few hosts :) If anyone knows a free
web host server that accepts all file types please email me!!
You'll get your models faster!]. Otherwise it might take some
time [but no more than 3 weeks], so don't stress... all should
be good.
New stuff, including
complete Zaku model.
- March 17, 2003
- Sorry about some of
the glitches I have had, but hopefully they are all sorted out
now. Finally some fantastic news. I have found a site which has
a Gundam RX-78 and the Zaku model that people have been complaining
about because of a corrupt file. I still need to download all
the files, so look out for them on my next update. I haven't got
all the files yet, because either their server is crap or the
way I was downloading them was crap, because it took double the
time if not more, than it should have taken to download a file.
- There is also a heap
of box-head type transformer models. Find em in the Mecha
section.
- And finally, my wish
list has expanded and I have added some new picks of models that
I would like to get my glue covered hands on. Check them out at
the bottom
of the page.
A NEW host!
- March 10, 2003
- I apologise that I haven't
upgraded my site. Sometime in Februrary my site completely screwed
up. My account at Tripod no longer had my files, instead it had
files from another site. I dunno if its a screw up on the Tripod
server, but I'm sick of it. I've tried and waited for almost half
a month to see if it is fixed or anything, but nuh. So now that
I have found a new place (even though angelfire is part of the
tripod thingy) to store my stuff hopefully all is peachy. There
also is a slight name change, it is still PaperandGlue, but it
has an '01' added to the end of it, as in site one. I have an
awful feeling i'm going to have to upload all my zip files again
on another site.
- The good news is that
you haven't missed out on much. I hadn't been able to find any
models for ages, until now. They're not major ones, but they are
still models. I have also had a go at making one of those cube
head models, you know the ones that have cubes for heads... anyhow
yeah he is called Bad Ben and you can find him here, under the
other section. I also have another one called Dopey Jim, he isn't
coloured yet.
- My pixel work has also
been coming along well also. I have pretty much completed the
first scene out of the movie The Matrix, in my pixel movie called
'The Pixelatrix'. Some of the timing is a little fast, especially
where the dialogue is concerned. I should have that finished and
started on the difficult trinity scene by the end of the month.
- Some more bad news,
I have given up on making my Patlabor AV-98 Ingram model for the
time being. I think I concentrate more on my box head models and
the pixelatrix.

Pixel crazy!!
- February 7, 2003
- A little while ago,
about the same time as when I discovered paper models, I discovered
the wonderful world of pixels! This included animated gifs, animated
cursors, icons and just still pixel pictures. Just lately I have
gone a bit mafia/gangsta/hitmen crazy (maybe it has something
to do with watching a lot of action movies and the sopranos?)
and made a little animated gif called "the mob", which
is the little animated thing above. Now I have gone a little nuts
and started making a few other 'mob' animations and some matrix
and starwars inspired gifs. So what has this got to do with paper
models? Well nothing really... but now that I have at least 10Mb+
of space on my site, I decided I would show off some of my pixel
work and link to some great pixel artists. You will find icons
and cursors made by me and other artists in the NEW pixel section.
Enjoy.
NEED MORE SPACE!!
- February 7, 2003
- Unfortunately this tripod
site only allows me to have about 20Mb of stuff. I reduced the
size of some images without losing any quality, so now I just
have to find a new site. I'll have the one main site (this one),
where all the html stuff and all the pictures are stored and then
I'll have a few other sites, which has no html stuff, just server
space full of all the models. Which will enable me to have lots
of pictures on the site! YAY! So if a model doesn't work, or a
page doesn't load, it means i'm busying uploading files and stuff.
I plan to do this over the next week or so, depending on how much
time I spend online.
Sorry for any inconvenience.
New Models and
More Robots to Drool Over - February 5, 2003
- I have refound a guy
who makes some really cool robot models. He's the one that I got
the Eva Jetalone model from. I cruised around his site and found
that he is making a few models that I wouldn't mind having my
hands on. Click here to see the new models
to drool over!
- It must be 'find-anime-characters'
month, because I have come across a few cute looking anime characters
from this little hamster thing to a weird 'frost' thing from some
PS2 game. Check the 'Other'
section to find them.
- Its not a new model
to rave about, but because of the One Piece models I have, I thought
this anime style Grim Reaper should sit along with it. It kinda
reminds me of a enemy out of MegaMan Battle Network on Gameboy
Advance.
=
???
- I have also uploaded
pictures of the gaming consoles and various others, the link for
the roly poly tanks and some others.

Robotech Battloid
and Link Update- January 18, 2003
- Finally, I went looking
for all the sites of the models that I have so I can link them.
While looking for the Starwars models, the same modeller had
the Robotech VF-1S Gerwalk Veritech fighter! The plans for the
Gerwalk model are much better than the original VF-S1 model
that I have so, I was a bit dissapointed, because I had based
my battloid mode version on the older plans. This guy seems
to be making each stage of the transformation of the veritech
fighter, so I have decided to put off building my version for
a while and focus more on my Patlabor model. I haven't seen
any Patlabor models, so its probably unlikely that I will find
it already made. Basically I don't want to build something which
someone else is already trying to do. Unless of course he doesn't
make it...
- Anyhow, my veritech
model had problems with the hands, i tried to make a penguin
type glove (thumb, index finger and other 3 fingers joined),
but it was a little to complicated for something that small.
It may be ok if the model was the same size of the Eva Unit00
model, but it isn't. I'm going to have to make it more simple.
But some good news the poseable legs and arms work well. They
have basic rotation, but hey its a paper model! I have to see
how it will work when it stands. Will it be rigid or like a
rag doll? Probably the latter, but we'll see.
- New models
added:
- Locust
- VF-S1 Veritech Fighter - Gerwalk

Robotech Battloid
Mech - January 15, 2003
- With the release of
the new Robotech game on Gamecube, I got all excited and started
building a veritech fighter in Maya. By using some of the plans
from the aircraft mode version of the veritech, I have completed
a prototype of the humanoid version of the mech.
- The first prototype
is saved and ready for printing. By the time I next update this,
the model should be complete (with colour!).

3D Paper Modelling
Apps Update - January 10, 2003
-
Initially, I couldn't export .obj files from Maya. After flicking
through the huge manual and fiddling with Maya for a few hours,
I realised that the '.obj export plugin' wasn't loaded. I don't
know if this is default or not, but I went into the Plugin Manager
and clicked on the 'loaded' & 'autoload' checkboxes so that
in the future I can export obj files without having to load
the plugin each time.
- Also .obj
files don't like nurbs either. I says 'Ignored Nurb Surfaces'
or something when I export. So far it only like polygons. I
haven't tried Sub-Division surfaces yet. So the models will
end up a bit blockish, due to the fact that I'm stuck in polys
(unless you want a multi-faced surface, making building harder
and more complex.
- More surfaces
= more folds = harder to build. Which I ain't going to do at
the momment.
- I haven't
figured out the texturing process in Tenkai yet. It seems a
bit weird, but its probably a simple process. I'm too busy trying
to make a successful model, let alone worrying about the colours
of it.
3D Paper Modelling
Apps. - January
5, 2003
-
I have started walking into the realm of making my own paper
models from scratch (a Patlabor Ingram!!), and am looking for
simple ways of constructing 3D models, without using rulers
and the need to remake pieces over and over again because it
was out by 5mm.
- I had a small
look around, and I have found a nifty tool called - Tenkai (which
means 'unfold' in japanese), and this program just does that,
unfolds your 3D models.
...and then
with a click of a button it converts it to a flat image, with
gluing tabs, ready for printing and construction. This is pretty
cool and I'm try it out. It's shareware, so you can only save
