My Pixel Art (^_^)

- I use the windows icon creator program "Microangelo" to create the majority of this art. I find it easier to draw using this than using photoshop, plus it saves files as icons [.ico] without the need to find a plugin for photoshop. For animated gifs, I copy/paste images from Microangelo into "Adobe Image Ready". It's pretty much the same as photoshop but with the added feature of creating animated gifs. For larger pixel images [e.g. the car and hotel from the pixelatrix] I use MS Paint.

- All the pixel art shown on this page has been created pixel by pixel by Phillip Sabolta. All the characters I've recreated have their creators rights and therefore I cannot make any profit from these, and therefore neither can you! If you manage to download these images please bear in mind that I created them and I only allow them for personal use. If you wish to use them please contact me.

Pixelatrix Trailer

Trinity Test

Scene 1 from the Matrix

Bullet Time Test

A few of the Matrix Characters

The Matrix is a phenomenom in terms of movies. A clever, mind bogling story with ground breaking special effects and stunts to boot. It has sparked a heap of fan based work all over the internet and inspired some with new ideas. As a fan of the Matrix and pixel art, I decided to combine them creating short gif animations. I have chosen the gif format because of its small file size, excellent compatibility with pixels and the ability to be a self contained animation medium. Elliminating the need to download the latest media player or compression codec, all that is needed is an internet browser, which is guarenteed to be already installed on every computer. Although, for best results, I suggest playing the gif fullscreen in Quicktime.

The 1st animation is a crappy trailer for the Pixelatrix. I say its crappy, because basically, it is. The transitions are okay, but I could redo the typing text and possibly have the characters animated.

The 2nd animation was a test run, to experiment with the mobility of the pixel characters and basically see if I could pull it off. Its is Trinity perfoming her praying mantis kick on an unfortunate police officer.

The 3rd animation is pretty much the intro and first scene of the first Matrix movie. Most of this animation is scrolling matrix code and dialogue.

The 4th is a fabricated stunt, which doesn't appear in any of the movies. It's a test scene where Agent Smith is doing a bullet time dodge, while returning fire. I made this so I can experiment with the bullet time effects, blurring the background or adding a wind effect. I haven't added the projectile paths of the bullets yet, which should appear in my next experiment.

Also [still in production], is the beginning part of scene 2 from the Matrix, when the cop kicks in the door to the room trinity is in. I'm working on trying to finish this scene. Bear with me, as this scene includes a VERY complicated fighting scene with Trinity :) I'll be pushing the pixels to create blur/wind effects and bullet trails! :)

I have also created the pixel characters for the Twins, Niobe and a few of the other Matrix Reloaded characters. Unfortunately, you'll probably never see these in action as I am only basing The Pixelatrix off the first movie, so I just added them to an animated thing of all the characters.

The Mob Series
The Mob, were my first pixel animations. Seeing the first Matrix movie inspired me to create a gangster spin off with lots of blood :) I've used some cool effects here like hair movement and smoke. I have a 3rd The Mob animation, which I haven't converted to gif format yet. It will probably be rehashed and used in the Pixelatrix project as it is the scene where the Agent jumps from the rooftop chasing Trinity.
Starwars - Yoda
I finally saw episode 2 and I couldn't resist. Cool lightsabre effect! :)

My Icon Pixel Art

Notes
Gundam, Mazinger, Getter and Patlabor Mecha

Similar to my Transformer ones before, but these have been cranked up a notch and made in 48x48 pixels instead of 32x32. I could fit more detail on them this way. I've only made the ones that you see above, but I plan to make some of the other Gundam Wing mecha like Sandrock etc. If you don't know, these are the names from left to right:

A version of Getter Robo, Mazinger Z, Rx-78-2, Rx 78 Alex, Rx 78 Alex with Armour, Zaku, Gundam Strike, Gun Cannon?, Gundam Wing, Death Scythe, Heavy Arms, Heavy Arms Mod, Heavy Arms Custom.

Updated Robotech

Not all that different from the previous set, but while I was making the Gundam ones, I had a crack at some of the different versions of the veritech fighters from Robotech. Made at 48x48 size. These are the names of the ones I've made:

VF-1A, VF-1D,VF-1J Rick, VF-1J Max and Miliya versions, VF-1J with GBP-1S Armor, VE-1 Elintseeker, VT-1 Superosterich, VF-1S, VF-1S Super, VF-1S Strike, Defender, Monster, Tomahawk, Spartan, Phalanx Regult Battle Pod, Regult Heavy Missle, Regult Light Missle, Regult Scout and from Macross Plus the VF-19.

I plan to make: Glaug, Queadluun-rau & Nousjadeul-ge powered suits, the SDF-1 and probably some off Macross Plus.

Transformers

Dunno what got me making a heap of Transformers icons. As you see these are in the same style like my other robot ones above [robotech, patlabor and gundam]. I have a now tattered catalogue that came with one of my Gen1 transformers I bought and I've been using it as a guide. Some colours might be out of whack or completely wrong, but i'm colour blind so i'm doing my best. Currently there are 56 icons made at 32x32 size. These are the names of the ones I have completed:

Blaster, Bluestreak, Blurr, Bruticus, Defensor, Devastator, Dirge, Galvatron, Hotrod, Hound, Ironhide, Jazz, Jetfire, Kup, Megatron, Menasor, Metroplex, Mirage, Omega Supreme, Optimus Prime, Perceptor, Predaking, Prowl, Ratchet, Rodimus Prime, Scourge, Sideswipe, Skywarp, Soundwave, Starscream, Sunstreaker, Superion, Trypticon, Ultra Magnus and Wheeljack.

Plus the names of the 'minicon' & cassette transformers I have completed:

Beachcomber, Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, Cosmos, Eject, Frenzy, Gears, Hub Cap, Huffer, Outback/Brawl, Pipes, Powerglide, Ramhorn, Rumble, Seaspray, Steeljaw, Swerve, Tailgate, Warpath, Wheelie and Windcharger.

I plan to make a heap more. Most of the ones I have made are Autobots. Like I said, I have a list of all the Generation 1 transformer toys with pictures, and I'm working my way down the list. If your wondering why I haven't made an animated gif of all the icons like I did for some of the others, is because its an uncomplete set and basically there are 56 of them to animate!!!! AKKK!

(Off a flash animation I was working on called 'The Gangsta: Hitman©'.)

Joe "Hitman" Carlucio© & his Beretta

Made at 32x32 size.

CubicGreenery©

(I have started building a whole theme set to replace pretty much all of Windows main icons... they are kind of cubic and kind of green so I'm calling this new set "CubicGreenery©".)

©

The set has a transparent lego feel. I have found from other peoples icon sets, that they are totally different than the default windows icons, and we have come to recognise the default icons and what they represent. I tried not to stray to far from the default as I do not want to confuse people. The image below is what your Start Menu would look like. Made at 32x32 size.

24 icons made so far.

Spiderman: Legend of the Spiderclan

(As a fan of Spiderman comics, and manga, I found both in the same thing. A mangaverse series with art from Skott Young, one of a bunch of guys that you can check out at their site "Led Heavy". You'll find the link at the bottom.)

A bunch of characters from the first two comics in the series of five. As I obtain the rest of the comics I'll make more characters. 30 icons made so far from the first 2-3 comics. Made at 32x32 size.

Samurai Pizza Cats

I rencently watched an episode of the pizza cats and I couldn't resist. They turned out pretty good. I've made a couple of the main characters. Made at 32x32 size. I don't really intend on making any more, however I might create the rest of their bodies and have it just as pixel art.
