WELFARE ACTIVITIES

 

An association is effectively working to look after the sports, welfare and cultural activities for workshop employees and their dependents. 

·        Constructed Community Hall with the aid of award money received by shops in recognition of best performance from time to time.

·        Cash awards to the employee's meritorious children who have pass distinction in 8th to 12th standard every year.

·        Extending financial assistance to the needy person on medical grounds on one time basis.  

 ·       Developing orchestra teams to participate in inter division/Railway competition.  

RECENT SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS  

·      Air Brake test stand modified with double cylinder to assimilate system similar to coach during testing.

·       Developed test rig for testing leakages in FP & BP pipes.

·         Engraving of POH details on water tanks attended has been introduced for positive traceability.  Earlier these details were being stenciled in paint.

·        A Distribution Valve cleaning stand has been developed in-house and put into use in Component Repair Section.

·        A separate Bosch tank has been commissioned in Lifting Shop to enhance the coach POH activity.

·        Suspension bearing for electric locos developed.

·        Facilities for repair to EMU bogies were developed and 6 Nos. were repaired and dispatched to TPYS. Like wise 3 Nos. of Co-Co bogies were also repaired for Gooty Diesel shed.

·        Due Innovation in the method of manufacture of Co -CO bogie components has resulted in saving of man-hours. The cost of each bogie has been reduced by over one lakh rupees.

·        Volumetric testing and back pressure testing for AC coach compressors have been started after designing and fabricating suitable test bench inside the workshop.

·        Manufactured and commissioned electrolyte recycling plant at TLW which not only resulted in saving of Rs. 45000/- per annum but also helped in minimizing industrial pollution.

·        Manufactured and commissioned 75-ton traverser for carriage movement at a cost of Rs. 20 lakhs as against the market cost of Rs. 1 crore.

·         Manufactured and commissioned axle guide circlip groove cutting machine for modification of old guide without dismantling from bogies which has resulted in annual saving of Rs. 2,64,78,144/- considering the cost involved in renewal of these guides.

·       A roller bearing cleaning plant has been manufactured indigenously.

·   Gadget for checking twist in bogie bolster has been manufactured and installed

·       In order to provide adequate floor area for Air Brake Overhauling Section in Lift Shop, the existing vacuum Brake Cylinder, DA Valve and SAB Overhauling/Testing Section has been shifted to new location duly providing all the facilities.

·       Gadget has been developed for local testing of brake beams during POH

·        3 Tonne capacity Hoist Gantry has been provided for 25 Meters length in Smithy Shop to facilitate manufacturing of ICF Bogie Bolsters. Millwright shop staff has done this work.

·        Emergency openable window design has been simplified by provision of hinges on one side and spring loaded tower bolt on other side. This is simple for manufacturing /fitment, more reliable in operation compared in operation compared to earlier design.

·        Emergency openable window developed for larger windows of AC coaches.  

·        Emergency open able window developed for AC chair cars.

·        Illuminated sign Board has been provided to centenary Hall that gives better look.  

   OTHER ACHIEVEMENTS

·        95 wheels (79 ICF+7 BOXN+9 Diesel BG) supplied to Divisions. 

·        All the air brake coaches have been turned out with the standard color scheme of aircraft blue and satin blue As a marketing organization, this workshop has extended its support to sister Railways in manufacturing new components required by various Division/Sheds/Railways.
