The Dark Review

Tekken 4 - The Good Things

I'll start with a game that every knows...... Tekken 4.
First of all, after playing this, I found that the game hadn't really changed from T3, most of the characters had all the same moves and combos (you'd think after all those years and tournaments they'd learn something new!). Even one of the 'new' characters, Christine, actually has Eddy's moves and combos right down to the 'bash the kick buttons and hope for the best' combo. Kazuya is back, but he still has his Tekken 2 moves. Actually, the only oldie that has new moves is Jin, who's new movelist suits his new 'look'.
The 2 totally original characters are definately Steve Fox and Craig Marduk. Steve is a Boxer, and has very few kick moves (if any! lol). He also has a bond with a certain female assassin.... I won't go into detail, though. Craig, on the other hand, bursts out of the blocks with a backstory that already includes King..... a huge, powerful fighter jailed for a huge bar brawl that ended in Armor King's death...... He has powerful throws and a kick that can rival Paul's Pheonix Smasher and King's Yakuza Kick! Not many new characters, though.........

All in all, if you have a PS2, you're better off with the Tag Tournament..... In the Arcades, T4 is even easier, i can complete it with only one coin.... if nobody challenges me.....
7/10 - Not a great game following the money wasted on TTT, Namco should have slowed down and thought a bit before rushing out with another Tekken. Not much inititive........ 'nuff sed.
