American Audio Institute was founded in (1979 to 1997) by Gregg Goldie, educator and professional of the recording arts. AAI offered workshops and classes, held performances and special events that contributed to music movement at the time. The school was focused on learning by self-development , discovery of own audio character and as well as art of personal mixing.
Sound Recording graduates are currently working in varied positions across the country and around the world.
Greg introduced the love for the audio to artists to paint the excellence in sound images that arose from the consciousness-raising classes and their personal lives. In the first half of the 1980s the school was named the Brooklyn Center for Audio Learning and it expanded its artistic and academic programs. AAI was opened in 1985 when the school moved to Brooklyn and the target was low budget applicants and foreign students . Unable to secure sufficient funding to continue its operations,
AAI moved to Brooklyn South and then to Lower Manhattan. The school closed by 1997.
