Bonsai Maintenance Tips and Tricks
Watering is the crux of maintaining Bonsai. Practically any trees and plants will perish if watering wasn't correctly done. You have to make sure to water your bonsai the right number otherwise it can readily become sick. Your selection of soil also substantially relates to watering as soil soils retain the water considerably better than others. Bonsai Pests and Diseases
Like any plant, bonsai trees are prone to pests and ailments. Making sure you use the right kind of ground, water your bonsai properly and giving them enough fertilizer will prevent them from being attacked and infected by pests. Here are some tips about how to identify that something is already incorrect in your Bonsai:
- Your plant may have leaves starting to fall off or turning yellowish brown. This may be caused by insufficient water. if your tree is experiencing this it may be due to underwatering it or overfeeding the plant fertlizers.
- Bugs visible on your own bonsai. You have to identify the bug on your own tree so you can get a suitable treatment, merely pay attention to any specific features and google it. If you cannot identify it, try shooting a picture and show it to Bonsai websites that have forums. There are several members on these newsgroups that are consistently willing to help out.
- Your plant may be changed by a fungi or virus if the leaves start to dry out and the branches heavily darken. Once you notice these symptoms you have to immediately isolate your bonsai from other plants to quit the fungi distributing. Remove the portions of the tree that you believe is infected and then spray a fungicide to kill all the virus present in the tree.
Molds
Molds may appear if the earth has too much water, has poor aeration and has too much fertilizer within it. To be able to do away with those nasty looking molds in your Bonsai tree, combine the following:
-- 1 1/2 teaspoons of hrydrogen peroxide
-- 1 cup water
Mix the ingredients given above and pour it in a spray bottle. Be sure to spray the solutions to all areas of the plant including grounds, leaves and trunks. It's also advisable to spray the solution to the roots for it'll kill all the molds and in addition, may give out oxygen to the plant.
Bugs
Bonsai trees can get infected by bugs such as mealy bugs, mites, scale and wooly mites if they have been put beside a tree that can bring such bugs. It's a good idea to capture the bugs as early as possible and spray it immediately with an insecticidal solutions to prevent the bugs from spreading around the Bonsai tree.
