The U.S. has been cracking down on steroid use since the baseball controversy began. Over this last week, they made a huge advancement.
Chinese steroids—which are presumed to be responsible for 99% of all base chemicals of steroids—were given a large set-back when D.E.A. agents uncovered an operation including 37 companies with over 11 million steroid doses, and made 124 arrests while serving 143 search-warrants on 56 labs and locations.
The sale of these drugs takes place wholly on the internet—complete with absolute anonymity.
After targeting Mexican steroids, Operation: Raw Deal, went into effect. After scrutinizing the Mexican labs, it was concluded that the base chemicals were coming from China. After Operation: Gear Grinder (which shut down the Mexican labs), the Chinese manufacturers sent their product directly to the U.S.
Furthermore, the uncovering of these facts has led to arrests here in the U.S.: 26 people have been arrested in connection with more than 50 steroid labs in America.
Authorities are still sifting through the information they obtained.
More information and arrests are expected in the upcoming months.
