Welcome! During my twenty-five week residency at Science Skills High School in Brooklyn, NY, I had the privilege of teaching a Web Design Class for a group of intelligent and promising high-school students.
In this class, my students learned the skills needed to both write and publish their own websites. Specifically, they learned how to create websites using XHTML and CSS. Most of them came to the first class with little or no prior knowledge; however, by the end, everyone had contributed to putting a professional website on the World Wide Web.
If you ask the students what this class was about, they will tell you that it was about more than web design: this class was about leadership. Indeed, web design was only the vehicle through which my students learned about collaboration, conflict resolution, and much more. Their work reflects their exploration, understanding, and application of these important leadership skills.
