This dragon is one that I did not do for any of my characters. This is the Green dragon named Amaranth who is bonded to Terressa's best friend Kalen. I sent this to Stephanie, who writes for this character, as a Christmas present, having asked her what Amaranth looked like quite some time earlier. But before I sent her, I made sure to take some pictures of her so that I could put them up here on my webpage, and here they are. I think this dragon turned out well, and she was very interesting to paint.
I had to do some paint mixing for this one to get the green color for the legs, which is slightly darker than the green tone that I used on the body. Stephanie is going to have to put Amaranth in some good lighting, because she's so dark that in poor lighting she actually appears black, and there is not any part of her that is actually black. Even her toe-nails were done in the same dark green that I used on her legs.
The rocks on this dragon were also different than the other ones. While I like the mold of this dragon on the rock, if there were one thing that I would change, it would be to take out the icicles, since I don't believe that dragons would really like the cold. So for this one, the rocks and the icicles were painted brown, and I dusted them with black to give them a textured effect that I was hoping would look something like sandstone and make the icicles just look like stalagmites. Or maybe it's stalagtites. :)
Either way, I think this one came out very well, and was actually reluctant to give her up when the time came. :)
