Barn Preservation Project Survey

The beautiful old wooden barns in the Michigan countryside have been disappearing. Many people value our lovely old farm buildings and are trying to give them recognition that they deserve. Caledonia Township and surrounding areas have many unique and beautiful barns, built by master craftsmen at the turn of the century and before. The Historical Society would like to document their location and history.

• Pick an interesting farmstead, barn, or other structure.
• Photograph the structures from several angles, with closeups of specific features of interest.
• Identify and document in writing any interesting features about the barn or structure (location, age, known history, type of farm, renovations, silo, corn crib, etc.).
