3 cups flour
1 cup cocoa
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 cup butter, softened
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
3 tsp vanilla
2 10oz jars marchiano cherries
1 12oz pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
In large bowl, stir together flour, cocoa, salt, baking powder and baking soda.
In mixing bowl beat together butter and sugar on low speed until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla, beat well. Gradually add dry ingredients until well blended.
Shape dough into balls using 1 level tsp. each. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Indent center with finger.
Drain cherries (reserving liquid), place a cherry in center of each cookie.
In small pan combine chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk. Heat on low until chocolate is melted. Stir in 4 tsp. of reserved liquid. Spoon about 1 tsp. over to cover cherry on each cookie. Frosting may be thinned with adding reserved liquid.
Bake at 350 degrees F. oven 10 minutes until done.
