Grilled Barbecue Tempeh

Try a new kind of barbecue! Low in POINTS and high in nutrition, the nutty flavor of tempeh (soybean cakes) is a wonderful alternative to meat.
10 oz tempeh, sliced into sixteen 1/4-inch-thick pieces
1 medium onion, sliced
1 tsp sesame oil
1 cup barbecue sauce
Step 1:
Steam tempeh for 20 minutes to prevent it from drying out when grilled. While tempeh is steaming, saute onion in sesame oil over medium-high heat until very tender and golden, about 10 minutes.
Step 2:
Preheat grill. Brush tempeh slices with barbecue sauce and grill for 5 minutes on each side, brushing generously with sauce as it cooks.
Step 3:
Top Tempeh with onions and serve with additional sauce on the side.
Yield: About four slices tempeh plus 1/4 cup onions per serving.
