The candle’s flame
turns to the south
to show the lover’s
silhouette
against the wall
which stands out clear
a concept vague
yet understood
by those who have been 
by the candle
warmed and touched 
without getting 
burned at all

The candle’s flame
burns bright and long
as long as no one
blows it out
or lets it fall
flat wax is not
a feeling people
like, and yet it
happens all the time
to some who think 
that they need more
than just one candle 
to light their way
