SIDEWAYS GREED

I'm in a box
opportunity knocks
I could open the door
but then they'd wonder 
where I am
and if I'll be back 
to cut them just 
a little more slack
nutcases are easy to find
but even easier to make
without instructions or
a cigarette break
while sensibly using
the hospital for care
criss-crossed, mix-matched
identities; and a spare
in the hatchback, rusty
moldy bread and crusty
peeling off the floor
with help from pets
riding with us to the vets
to get them neutered
while some hobo we don't know
gets the children tutored
and qualms are absent
while money's an eyesore
to blind bums in the street
but I only want 
my slot machine treat
and eat my yogurt with a fork
with one bent prong
as the night watcher says
he's been looking too long
and two more Disney movies
are fed to kids so Disney execs
can feed themselves
and belch out another movie
breads & fruits & vegetables
are strung out, washed and cleaned
by light of lamp with kerosene
seeping out and along the floor
which allows the bread to be ready to burn
cuz there's always more out there to earn
