Iguanas need a diet higher in calcium than phosphorous (ratio of 2:1). Iguanas should be fed every day. Yes, EVERYDAY! Feed enough to encourage growth, but not obesity. If an iguana is receiving the correct amount of nutrients from its diet, then it is unecessary to add any supplements. NEVER FEED AN IGUANA DOG OR CAT FOOD! Those foods are not healthy for an iguana because they contain animal proteins which iguanas cannot digest. Iguanas have special nutritional needs that other animal foods do not provide. Thoroughly rinse all greens and finely chop all fruits and vegatables before preparation. Also, provide fresh water daily. Green Iguanas do drink water, so it is important to provide clean water to reduce the chances of infection or disease.
