Humidity

An iguana's natural environment is not only very warm, but it is also very humid. An iguana's enclosure should have between 65 to 85 percent humidity. The way to achieve this for small enclosures is to mist the terrarium with a spray bottle of luke warm water twice a day. Also to retain the moisture, you may want to block some of the screen with clear plastic window film. For larger enclosures, use a humidifyer. Without the proper humidity levels, an iguana cannot breathe properly and may have complications during shedding. Be sure you do not over humidify the enclosure, as this will cause mold and bacteria to build up. The use of a humidity gauge is a must for green iguana owners.
