Ice's Real name is Tora Olafsdotter, and her first appearance was in Super Friends #9, December 1977. She started out as the daughter of Olaf, king of a tribe of mythical "Ice-People". She left her father's secret ice kingdom in Norway to learn of the outside world, and soon met Dr. Mist, leader of the Global Guardians, an international peacekeeping band of paranormals headquartered in Paris. She took the code name "Ice Maiden", and soon became friends with Beatriz DaCosta, aka Green Flame (later Fire). When the Global Guardians disbanded, Bea convinced Tora to go with her to New York to join the Justice League. At first they were both rejected by the Martian Manhunter, but were granted a temporary membership when the League was short-handed. When they served well and proved their worth, they were made permanent members, and took the names of Fire and Ice. Ice, while a demure, soft-spoken young lady, is a fierce and effective combatant. She is an above-average hand-to-hand combatant, and can project various forms and quantities of ice and snow through her hands at will. The quantities are not enormous, but can usually stop or slow down most enemies. Ice died while fighting the Overmaster in 1994.
