As the cats walked back to the junkyard Skimbleshanks started to have a bad feeling about telling the others before telling Old Deuteronomy and started to run to catch up with Munkustrap. Soon he caught up with him just as he was about to enter the junkyard and set down the baby and placing himself between Munkustrap and the junkyard. Breathing heavily he sat down. “What was that all about?” Munkustrap demand glaring at Skimble.
“I think we should take our problem to Old Deuteronomy first before the rest of the tribe. You know, to ask for his advice, to see what we should do!” Skimbleshanks replyed back then saw that the baby was starting to crawl away. “Excuse me for a second, and oh, I will be going to see Old Deuteronomy now.” Skimble then leapt over Munkustrap and landed in front of the baby. He gently picked her up again and started running towards the Vicarage wall without looking back to see if anybody was following. Munkustrap just shook his head and started running after his friend with Asparagus running behind him with all the things he has found on the body of the mother of the baby.
At the Vicarage wall Old Deuteronomy was sleeping soundly when he heard the sound of running feet. He opened one eye and saw Skimble running towards him with Munkustrap and Asparagus following him. Mumbling something dark under his breath he opened his other eye just as Skimble, Munkustrap, and Asparagus jump onto the wall, walked towards him and he greeted them with a smile. “Hello Skimbleshanks, hello Munkustrap, hello Asparagus what do need?”
“Hello Od Deutrono’y.” Skimble triec to reply back with his mouth full.
“Skimbles there’s something in your mouth, either you swallow it or spit it out.” Deuteronomy said looking at Skimbles mouth then he saw what it was.
His eyes widened with fear then Munkustrap butted in. “We have a small problem and it’s in Skimbles mouth.......”
“What type of problem?” Deuteronomy asked, concerned for Skimble and what was in his mouth.
“I was going too. You see, it all started when Skimble went to me with a problem then a storm came out of nowhere, with lighting and everything! Well you know me, the first thing I did was try to get all of the cats into the pipes. Then Jellylorum spotted Pouncival curled up in a tight ball outside the pipes so I went to get him when a lighting bolt comes crashing down near me and Pouncival. What we saw in that lighting bolt was not from here, then the lighting bolt started to move around us and the junkyard then it disappeared and the storm went away just like that! Standing there was a small female holding something then a arrow went flying out of nowhere and hits her on the neck! Then she fell down to the ground. We thought she was dead but then she jumps up and tries to say ‘back away from me’ then tries to run but then she falls down again. She was holding something that it seems to be something very special to her then Jennyanydots ran to her and put her head in her lap and starts yelling for help for the women.....”
“And how do you know that she’s a women? We don’t even know what she is?” Asparagus interrupted who has been quiet until now.
“I don’t! let’s just say that she is in respect for the dead....”
“The dead?!?!?!?!?” Deuteronomy ask confuse and worried about what’s happening.
“Yes the dead the women died soon after but at least she could have let us tried to heal her arrow wounds.....”
“And there were more wounds on her then arrows....” Asparagus interrupted once again.
“What other wounds? and where did you found them?and when did you find them?” Munkustrap interrupted Asparagus.
“I found them when I was searching her body. They were all over except where the baby was. I kept on wondering what been happening to that poor girl. Dying for her child, it just burns me up to think who would do such a ugly deed. Killing such a young girl, forcing her to run for her life with her child and ohhh......it just burns me up just thinking about it.” Asparagus replied clutching his fists and declutching them. Angered at who would do such a thing and felt a hand on his shoulder.
Then looked up to see who and saw Old Deuteronomy looking back at him. “Calm down Asparagus what done is done we can’t do a thing about it.” Deuteronomy said looking deep into his eyes calming Asparagus.
“So the mystery deepens evens more.” Munkustrap said after a while of silence rubbing his hands on his chin. “and remember the last thing she said before she died was to help her child but at first she didn’t say that, all she said was help m.. that’s it but what she meant was this. Skimble show him.”
Skimbleshanks nodded and carefully set the baby on the wall, who was sleeping until now. It woke up and blinked for a time then looked around and started giggling and doing cute baby stuff that could capture and melt the hardest of hearts. As Deuteronomy started sniffing her she grabbed his whiskers, giggling with glee at the game.
“Let go you little devil.” Deuteronomy said as he tried to get her to let go of his whiskers. Soon he did with the help of the rest of the cats as Skimble put her between his front paws and started cleaning her. After he finished cleaning her, he looked up and saw the confused faces around him. “What?!?!? So what if she’s not a cat she still needs someone to look after her, and if no one will. I will since I am a father of four anyway so one more won’t be much of a hustle.”
Deuteronomy then turns to Asparagus and saw that he had carrying some things. “What do you have?” He asked Asparagus
“A letter and a bag.” Asparagus replyed.
“A letter? Let me see.” Deuteronomy asked as Asparagus opened and handed him the letter. As Deuteronomy read it his eyebrows knotted then he looked at the baby. then the letter. and repeats it, then handed it back to Asparagus.
“Thank you for letting me read it.”
“The pleasure is all mine.” Asparagus replied as Deuteronomy then turned to Munkustrap and jumped off the wall. “Go and get the cats ready for a meeting now! we don’t have a lot of time go now!” Deuteronomy commanded as the younger gray tabby jumped off the wall and almost flew over his father as the rest of the toms grabbed their things and leapt off the wall to take off running.
Then a small shadow came into the light and its sight was one you didn’t want to know. Its face was all twisted up into a permanent snarl and its body was all covered in scars and was twisted and it moved like a snake as it moved towards the man and gives it report in a hissing voice holding the S’s as it spoke. “Sssssir, we tried to capture the missssteresssssss of the foresssst but....”
“But what Godli?” The man reply interrupting Godli.{The twisted creature}
“Sssshe esssssscaped....”
“Escaped?!?! escaped where?” The man interrupted angry.
“I don’t....I don’t know. I don’t know.” Godli reply scared of what may happen to him.
“Well you better find out where or you be in her place understand?”
“Yessssss sssssssir!”
“Now get going!”
Godli ran back into the forest with some of the shadows following him. Running like mad beasts as the man clutches his fist and slams it against a rock, smashing it to pieces as the rest of the shadows moved away from him in fear, crawling on the forest ground. “Fools, how could she get away? She probably has the child and the stone how could she escaped? how could she? Once I find her or the child I will do this to them!!” The man then draws a sword and cuts a giant tree in half!
Deuteronomy cleared his throat and with a wave of his hand the mutters became quiet and all eyes turn to him and the rest who was on the tire. “Cats, we have a serious matter to discus. I have heard that a small women has entered the junkyard and died here, and I also know that it is still fresh on your minds. But I also know that she has left some things with us, in trusting us to take care of them. Two of the items are a letter and a bag. I do not know what’s in the bag but what I have read in the letter it is something we must give our lives to protect. Also, what the letter tells me is that we are all in danger at this very moment....” A loud gasp and mutters was heard from the crowd and with another wave of his hand Deuteronomy silence the crowd again. “Quiet please! I know that you are all scared of what could happen but imagine the women who gave her life for these things, plus something that was very precious to her and soon it will be just as precious to us as it was to her....”
“But what is it? And what does Skimbles have that he’s hiding from us?” Jennyanydots asked, concerned for what it might be.
“I was getting to that Jenny but also we have found out that the women was a mother...” A loud gasp was heard from the crowd then Deuteronomy signaed to Skimbleshanks to move, which he did quickly, and then Deuteronomy picked up the baby and held it high into the air so all could see. There were coos and cries of “isn’t that precious”, “oh that is so darling”, and “How cute” heard from the crowd and was silenced when Deuteronomy and Skimble then drew the baby close.
“It would be kind of anyone if you could tell what this baby is. Mungojerrie, Rumpleteazer do you have any knowledge on what she could be?” Deuteronomy asked with pleading eyes as two tabbies walked forward and started to study the baby then look at Deuteronomy sadly shaking their heads.
“I am sorry but we can’t figure what this baby is. Sorry but we have not seen anything like this, never.” Mungojerrie said shaking his head but then Rumpleteazer wraps her tail around his muzzle.
“I remember over hearing something our masters said, something about human like people beings while he was reading a book and explaining it to his kittens. Maybe we can bring that book here and see what it says about this baby.”
“Good idea Rumpleteazer. Get it as soon as possible. The sooner the better, then we can figure out what she is!” Deuteronomy said.
“Maybe we can bring her with us *hee hee* that would be funny to see our master face when he sees her.....” Mungojerrie imagined what his master’s face would be but was shocked at Skimbles sudden outburst.
“NO YOU CAN’T! SHE MUST NOT BE SEEN BY HUMANS!!!!” Was Skimbleshanks sudden outburst, looking at the baby whose happy expression suddenly change to scared at Skimbles outburst and started to cry. In fact it shocked most of the cats at his outburst, he was shocked himself as he then grabeds the baby gently and ran away from the crowd of cats with Jellylorum following behind him.
Skimbleshanks ran as he never thought he could. As he reached the station he slowed down to a walk and hurried past the guards. He ran to his small spot in the office and set down the baby, looking at her. Then he looked around to see if anybody was seeing them then looked back at the baby. “What is it that makes behave like this? Why, that’s all I want to know. Why?” Skimbles asked while looking at the young baby who was trying to grab Skimbles face giggling at the orange tabby face. “Oh no you don’t.” Skimble said after the baby grabbed his lower lips. He let out a small playful growl as he started moving his right front paw as the baby tries to grab it. Then he moved lighting quick when the office door started to open.
Skimble grabbed the baby and shoved her under him and his ears went flat against his skull, a deep growl escaped from his throat as the station master walked in. He saw Skimble lowered to the ground and ears flat against his skull. “Jonathan what’s wrong boy? what is it?” As the station master reaches down to scratch one of Skimbles ear a brown and white calico runs in and blocks his hand path. “I can see that your lady friend is here I better leave you two alone.” The station master then mutters something under his breath and left the room.
“What was that outburst at Mungojerrie for Skimble?” Jellylorum demanded looking deep into her mate’s eyes, searching for a answer. “is it stress? if it is I could take over your jobs at the junkyard for a while.”
“No it’s not stress. I don’t know what it was. I am trying to find it what it was....”Skimble answered raising himself up and gently pushing the baby out, who is now is asleep. He smiles at her as Jellylorum walks up to him and places her head under his, then looked at the baby and smiles.
“Is that why you let out your outburst? to protect the baby.”
“Yes I guess so.” Skimble reply and rubs up against his mate.
“Good, they have read the letter and the orange tabby named Skimbleshanks doesn’t know on what he’s asking for, taking the job on watching your baby. This is starting to become like the time of the ring-bearer. Go now and continue to watch them and I will watch Middle Earth.” The other human like being command as the mother gives her a little bow and runs off to continue to watch.
“Yes Lady Galadriel right away.”
Galadriel sat down, looked into a pool of water and waves her hand over it and stares. She looked into it deeply as a another human like being walked into the room. This one was different, this one was small, very rounded, and had thick and very hairy feet. “Lady Galadriel? Why did she run out of the room like something was chasing her? and why.......”
He was cut off with a wave of Galadriel who looks up. “ A time of evil has come to Middle Earth, Fardo, a time like the time we were on Middle Earth just like tht. Time now leave me alone to watch Middle Earth.”
“Yes my Lady Galadriel.” Fardo turns around walks out as Galadriel then stands up and walks to another room where the mother was staring down into a pool of water watching Skimbles and Jellylorum.
As Galadriel walks over she stands up. “Yes my lady?”
“Don’t ‘my lady’ me Ladyheth. You can just call me Galadriel. I just want to watch with you.” Galadriel then holds up her hand and watches the cats doing their everyday business and sees Skimbles and Jellylorum walking back into the junkyard with the baby in Skimble’s mouth. Lots of cats then ran to him and started sniffing the baby. When he sets her down and a mischievous smile spread across Galadriel lips as she looks up and points a finger at the pool. “Should we visit them and give them a gift in person?”
“Yes we should.” Ladyheth replied with the same smile on her lips. “and should we activate the stone as well?”
“Oh...you are good. Yes we should.” Galadriel then waves her hand over the pool.
