- Samhain (October 31):
Samhain is the first sabbat of the year. Samhain is a time to look back over the past year and reflect on what could have been done differently, and to make plans concerning what can be done better in the coming year. On this night, the veil is cast aside, and we can reach out to our lost loved ones secure in the knowledge that death is not the end, but merely another form of existance. Rituals honoring the dead are done on this night, and they are often asked for advice about the coming year.
- Yule (December 21):
Yule is celebrated at the time of the Winter Solstice and is viewed as a time of rebirth. The rebirth of the Fater symbolizes the return of the sun and the end of winter. This day is often celebrated by lighting candles or burning the Yule Log. The Mother's influence over the physical realm ebbs as she restis in preparation for the spring.
- Imbolg (February 2):
Imbolg celebrates the early days of Spring and the awakening of the Mother. This Sabbat is often celebrated by huge bonfires. Cleansings and Purifications are common ritual themes as we begin to emerge fro mthe cold and darkness of winter.
- Ostara (March 21):
Ostara is celebrated at the time of the Spring Equinox and is the first day of Spring. This Sabbat focuses on long term cration. Spells and the like that will take time to reach frition are often cast at this time.
- Beltane (April 30):
Beltane celebrates the time in the Circle of Creation where the Mother and Father breath new life into the world. Sping is in full bloom and the forest is bursting with life. This Sabbat is also known as May day and was historically celebrated by May Pole dances. It was believed that a child conceived on this day was blessed by the Gods and destined for greatness.
- Lammas (August 2):
lammas is the early harvest Sabbat. It is a farewill to summer and the recognition that the Wheel of Seasons is turning and soon we will reach the period of stillness associated with Winter. At this time many Wiccans gather what natural herbs they will need for the coming months.
- Mabon (September 21):
Mabon is the Sabbat celebrated at the time of the Autumnal Equinox. It is the last Harvest before winter arrives the God's energy wanes with the retreating Sun. This is the last holiday before Samhain ushers in the new year.
