7th Precinct Studios presents . . .
My Dream Cast for a
Movie!

Just about every writer wonders, just once, who would play their characters in a film.  Much of the time, there is no voice for the writer in this matter: a casting director flexes his muscle and performs this job, sometimes admirably (Christopher Reeve is still Superman in my book), sometimes poorly (Dolph Lundgren as the Punisher?!!)

In this thought, then, was it that I took it upon myself to cast a Motown Heat movie, as I would choose them.

Although most of these thespians were chosen based on how they appeared, at least one was based on prior roles and personality.  The following contains digitally altered photos, mostly found on the Web.  The photos are copyright their respective photographers and publishers.  Alteration was performed using Adobe Photoshop 3.01 for Macintosh.  If any of the people depicted below wish for their photos to be removed, e-mail me and I will promptly remove the offending pic (We're all friends, here.).  The author of this page holds the following people in the highest respect, and considers this page as a tribute to them, that I would cast them in these roles.

Sonic Boom
Author's Choice: Nancy Ann Cohen
This comedienne displayed the look I wanted for Meredith Burke.  I chose her because, in this photo, she appeared to display all the qualities I picture in Sonic Boom: a cheerful personality, despite any obstacle, and a willingness to help others.

Ramm
Author's Choice: Willie J. Stalling
This professional light-heavyweight bodybuilder, as Ms. Cohen displayed for Sonic Boom, had the right appearance (read: muscles) for Jack Porter.  Some digital alteration of his skin tone and size would be required for him to play Ramm, but other intangibles, such as warmth, wisdom, and inner strength, I feel could be displayed by Mr. Stalling.  He could make Ramm more than just a brainless behemoth.

Cutup
Author's Choice: Kim Kyu Ree
This one was a tough call, since I wanted authenticity, which meant a genuine Korean actress.  Since I do not know very many Korean actresses who are the right age, I turned to the Web and discovered Ms. Ree, a Korean television actress.  This photo clinched my choice, as she appears to be able to portray the tortured soul that is Jasmine Chin with the realism it calls for.

The Flea
Author's Choice: Renee O'Connor
Ms. O'Connor is the only well-known actress among this cast, from her television work in the U.S. (Xena: Warrior Princess' Gabrielle).  It's in this television role that she portrayed the qualities I was looking for in the Flea: the combat mindset and commitment to honor that is the hallmark of Jill Burke, and the concern for others which epitomizes Ferret Diamond-Points.  Add to this that she may have been a model for the Flea: she's relatively short (5' 4") and quite muscular.

For this film, I would leave the team at this basic complement.  Although I did choose an actress for Paragon (Ellen DeGeneres), the photo manipulation required to create the character was just too complex.

Here's a challenge to MH readers: Name me actors or actresses to portray some of my villains.  I'm interested in hearing who you think would be good to play a villain in my little flick.  If I like your suggestion, I may have a future alteration to present with that villain. (P.S. No easy ones, either.  Celine would also be played by Renee O'Connor. :))  Click on my Dreambook below with your suggestions!
