Closed Rush for SAI is usually the Thursday in the same week as Open Rush. The sisters gather in an informal atmosphere to talk about their experiences with SAI. Again, this event is completely non-committal.
The Ribboning ceremony is held one week after Open Rush--about the 3rd week of classes. Though this event is also not an obligation, it symbolizes the fact that you are considering pledging SAI.
The Sisters will invite ribboned women to pledge through bids at some point during the following week.
On the next Tuesday (about the 4th week of classes), we hold the Pinning Ceremony. This is when you become an obligated, full-fledged pledge of SAI.
The pledge period at CMU lasts 6-8 weeks. While you are a pledge, you are required to meet with your pledge class and the Vice-President, Membership once a week. You also must get signatures from the actives, faculty advisors, and Patroness members of Eta Xi, as well as from the actives and pledges of Phi Mu Alpha and Delta Omicron. We also require that each pledge interviews each active during the pledge period. Don't be scared! You can get most of the signatures on a typical Tuesday night, and the interviews are relaxed and fun! Pledges are also required to put on three events: a fundraiser, a community service project, and a Rose Musicale.
We invite you to come to Open Rush, or simply approach a sister anytime, if you have any questions or are just curious about SAI
Come join our cherished sisterhood!
