Suprise Visit

One day, as I was keeping guard at the palace, I caught sight of a human out of the corner of my eye running towards the castle. Instinctively, I came to quick alert and left my comfortable sunny sentinel spot and flew towards the human. He had no weapons, so I knew it was one of the trusted messengers. Nonetheless, I was unhappy I had to leave my basking so I was ready to eat him. As I landed, I think he saw this.
"This had better be good," I rumbled, "you know the consequences of entering our home needlessly." I had him scared. Good. I loved the look of fear in a mans eyes when looking at my own. I know we are supposed to be tolerant of them, but Tiamat never said I had to be nice to them. I grinned at this thought and the messenger stepped back. Did I laugh out loud? No, guess not, so I continued. "WELL?"
"T-t-here are m-mercinaries in the mountains again, almost an army of them. S-said this time they were gonna get one of t-the queens eggs fer ransom." Good, I was getting hungry. I stared at him. "Our scouts had followed them into the w-western chain." With the final bit of information, I lept into the air, leaving the messenger huddled on the ground covering his ears. He seemed like a good kid, just needed to get used to us. Whoa, did I just say that? Wow, I must be feverish today. I made my way to the back of the Eastern Chain, The "twin" mountain to the Western. My planning was perfect, I loved it. I would sneak around the back and get all the laggers, then sneak ahead and get the scouts, that should take away about 25% of their forces which I will fry. leaving a good 75% left for me to devour at will. I almost laughed, but then realized that at my lightning speed I had gotten to the back of the group. Sure enough, there were about 40 lagging behind, covering the tracks and making sure they weren't being followed. The only problem was, they were in my mountains, I knew how to get them. So quickly I lept out and lit the ground with my attack, turning men into a giant heap of ash. They were lucky. So were the 50 scouts in front, for they had no time to feel pain, but when the main force came, I would feast and they would have to endure great pain while waiting, pleading for their turn to enter the dark abyss of death. Am I drooling? Must really be hungry. None the less, I wait behind 2 mountains, rehearsing my plan over and over in my mind, waiting. Waiting. Why must I wait so? Humans need to move faster, sloth ends in death, one of the most principle rules of the Guard. None should slack....

It was midmorning, and I was awoken by the sounds of marching boots. I grinned. Quickly, I got ready to pounce. I saw a man peer through at the intersection. NOW! I jumped up and ate the unfortunate fellow in one single gulp. Seeing the amazement among his companions, I used that last bit of stunned time and grumbled out in my deepest voice.

"BOO!"

The next few hours was chaos. I dove into the middle of the group, thrashing away voilently, not eating, for there was plenty of time after to rejoyce in my feast. I attacked left and right, and they retaliated, although I felt as if I were a dog beset by fleas. Fleas with teeth of steel. None the less, I had the advantage in my mountains. I used weight, edge, and mental superiority all together in blinding flashes. Finally it was over. I was cut in many areas, none that the next Molting wouldn't take away I thought. Happy, content, and beaming with pride for protecting the eggs, I sat down and had the biggest feast of my life.
