Friends Frenzy!

Dear Aly-

My friend is forever hanging out at my house, and when I suggest it, always comes up with an excuse for why we can’t do something at hers. I get tired of just the two of us hanging out around my house, so how can I get her out of my house and into her own? - Annoyed in Ohio

Dear Annoyed-

For starters, there may be a good reason that your friend prefers your house to her own. For one thing, she may be dealing with a lot of problems there, ones which you are unaware of. If this is the case, it’s important that you as her friend, be there to listen to her and help her in anyway possible. If this is not the case, you just need to sit down with your friend and tell her how you feel. All great friendships are built on both people giving a little and taking a little. -Aly

Dear Aly-

My best friend has started hanging out with people who do drugs. She gets drunk a lot, and I’m really worried about her. -Worried Friend in Colorado

Dear Worried Friend-

My advice would be to speak to her in private, but not on the telephone…in person. Tell her your concerns. But if you try that and it doesn’t work or you think she’s at a point where she’s being self-destructive, go to her parents. Keep in mind that your friend makes her own decisions and you can’t control what she’s doing just because you don’t like it. -Aly
