This panel measured 8 1/2 inches wide by 10 1/4 inches tall. The design was inspired by an existing pattern, intended for a much larger window. The original pattern had only two cattails, and seemed unbalanced. This design was drawn freehand, but I consider it to be a modified pattern because I kept the graceful arc of the foliage found in the original pattern.

The background is clear seeded glass, which gives the impression of rippling water. The cattails are composed of a textured cathedral glass which is predominately brown with purple and green streaks and highlights. Foliage is created from green cathedral and waterglass. Waterglass has a wavy look; as the sun passes through the glass it is refracted, providing an illusion of motion.

This design is one that can be duplicated.
