THIS DAY IS HIS
It was a still, quiet morning.
I awoke and heard the blackbird singing
The morning sun still a little shy,
So only the gentlest rays caressed my eyes.
I wanted to run straight into the day
But deep inside I know that is not the way.
I wandered into the forest nearby,
Hoping that maybe a little help from on high
Will make the day meaningful,
And I will not waste it like a fool.
The sound of many crickets surrounded me
And I heard their praise in ecstasy.
What a great multitude, but in harmony
Chanting their holy canticle, their divine melody.
Then I heard a Voice, calling my name.
The Voice of Him Who is always the same.
There He stood, in awesome majesty,
Robed in honour, strength and glory.
"Sweet Lord," cried I, "where should I start?
"For there is much to do and I soon must depart."
"I want thee to face each trial with Me,
Knowing that I am ever with thee.
Always trust in Me; the strength I will provide.
Should darkness arise, I will be thy Guide.
But first, come sit at My feet, dear child,
And learn of Me, for I am merciful and mild.
Before Me learn to be still,
And learn to say, 'Lord, have Thine own will.'
For if thou wilt learn to put Me first,
All thy undertakings that thou takest,
Will be blest of Me.>br>
Of this I assure thee.
"Thou canst do all things through Me
Who shall strengthen thee.
Step into today, child, with this assurance
That thou wilt be graced by My presence.
Look into every trial with boldness
And let Me use it to transform thee into My likeness.
What more canst thou fear,
When I have promised to be near?"
With much rejoicing and gladness of heart,
I gave thanks and made a start.
Just then, a bird flew by to say,
"Is not today a glorious day?"
A lily replied, "It sure is!"
And I know, because this day is His.
