Eerie Similarities
Shakespear's Sister's 'Hormonally Yours' video and Christopher Lloyd's 'Amazing Stories' episode.
- 1) In 'Hormonally Yours', SHAKESPEAR's Sister quotes the witches from Macbeth between clips. In 'Stories', Christopher Lloyd's evil teacher assigns Macbeth as homework and is obsessed with SHAKESPEARE in general.
- 2) In 'Stories', Lloyd scrawls the word 'sex' on the blackboard. On the HY video jacket, Siobhan Fahey wears a shirt with the word 'sex' printed on it.
- 3) In 'Stories', Lloyd's head is severed from his body and he terrorizes his students with it. In 'I Don't Care', clip 3 on the HY video, Siobhan's disembodied head appears inside a curtained box, terrorizing Marcella Detroit.
- 4) Throughout the HY video, Sister's male guitarist Gully seems to think he's in KISS; he keeps sticking out his tongue, Gene- Simmons style. In 'Stories', for no particular reason, so does Lloyd as his headless body chases his students down the street.
- 5) In 'Stories', the voodoo curse that causes Lloyd's delicate condition is taken from a rock album that the students play backwards. On the HY album, if you can find a way to play 'Black Sky' backwards, there's actually a message: Marcy Detroit sings, 'I'm not gonna sing that devil s***.'
- 6) The HY video's opening credits feature an ominous building drumroll. In 'Stories', a similar drumroll can be heard as the two students perform the voodoo ritual in the crypt.
- 7) Finally, in a VERY long stretch...At the beginning of 'Stories' we see a TV showing the B&W horror flick 'House on Haunted Hill' starring Vincent Price -- Tim Burton's hero and mentor. Tim Burton directed Batman Returns, which featured a pale, red-lipped, black-eyed Catwoman! AND SHAKESPEAR'S SISTER HAS A SONG CALLED CATWOMAN!!!
