Sexual deviancy has proliferated every segment of our society. In many states, sexual offenders account for nearly 30% of the total prison population. Moreover, there are over 140,000 reported cases of sexual abuse in the United States every year.

The training will be sent to you through regular mail on a CD ROM. All handouts, lecture outline, and other material are on the CD. Finally, each registrant will receive a PDF downloadable copy of Mr. Rosenberg's workbook, Understanding, Assessing, and Treating Sexual Offenders: Tools for the Therapistt.

This training series will provide each registrant with an extensive amount of information, printouts, and resources.

Mental health professionals, law enforcement professionals, and legal professionals who work in some capacity with victims will find this seminar insight and beneficial for their work. For victims therapists, having a sound foundation of knowledge with regard to the sexual offender will assist in understanding the effects of the abuse; the type and strength of the denial produced; and provide insight into treatment methods.

About the presenter

Matthew Rosenberg was the senior clinician at the Children's Centers Adolescent Sexual Abuser Program, and is currently Clinical Director of Rosenberg & Associates, Specialized Mental Health. He is the founder of the Michigan Coalition on Sexual Abuse & Deviancy, and has various projects that he is currently working on with the coalition. He has completed numerous essays on the dynamics of sexual offending and treatment, and also conducts ongoing research on denial, sex offender group therapy, victimology, recidivism, and other dynamics. He is the founder and editor in chief of The Horizon, a quarterly newsletter on sexual abuse and deviancy, and published his first book, "Understanding, Assessing, & Treating Sexual Offenders: Tools for the Therapist" in 1999. His articles have been published in the Detroit Free Press, the National Association of Social Workers and the California Coalition on Sexual Offending Newsletters, and other periodicals, and more recently, he, along with Michigan Attorney General Granholm and Wayne County Sheriff Ficano, took part in an panel discussion on WWJ (760 AM) focusing on the Internet.
