Music is as much a form of expression to me as writing is. I sing ... well ... soprano technically, but I still won't admit it. I sing alto in choirs and ensembles, and I've been sampling soprano solo work. I only found out I was a soprano in the fall of 1997, when I was somebody's guinea pig for a music pedagogy class. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to schedule choir into my classes lately, and the voice teachers are all full of (music major) students, so I haven't been singing much trained lately.
I also play instruments...not like I used to, but I still can :). I started playing clarinet in 6th grade, dropped it in high school, and picked it up again in 1997-98 to become a proud member of the CMU Marching Chips, the Best Band in All the Land! I also played a year in the low level band. Of course, I don't have time for either of those anymore, either.
I do still have time for Sigma Alpha Iota, Eta Xi chapter. I pledged in Fall 1996, a semester in which I was already experiencing major changes in my life; my sisters were wonderful then and are still wonderful now! I was the VP-Membership (pledge mother, basically) in 1997-98, Recording Secretary in 1998-99, and VP-Ritual for Spring 2000. I also was on or chaired numerous committees in the group, and completed my share of extra projects. One of those projects was Webmaster of our chapter webpage. SAI is pretty much the only link that I still have to music at this point, which I knew it would be eventually, and I am grateful beyond words to the sisters that still bring magic to music for me.
