If your abuser is anything like mine was, you are likely convinced that he can find out anything and everything about you. Here are a few simple steps to convince yourself otherwise.
A few notes, first, though. None of these steps will affect any program besides your browser. Clearing the history means that you change the browser back so that it does not "remember" which links you have followed (they won't turn a different color). Clearing the cache removes all the temporary files that the browser downloaded to your hard drive so that it could load pages more quickly. In Netscape, clearing the location bar means that when you click on the arrow on the toolbar next to the Netsite part (where you type in website addresses), no websites will be there. None of these steps will cause any damage or even any noticeable difference to your computer or its users.
Netscape Navigator (4.0 or later)
Open the Edit menu, then scroll down to "Preferences" and click on it.
On the left side of the window (under Category), click on Navigator.
On that page, click "Clear History" and "Clear Location Bar."
On the left side of the window (under Category), double-click "Advanced," then click on "Cache."
Click on both "Clear Memory Cache" and "Clear Disk Cache."
Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0
Open the View menu, then scroll down to Internet Options and click on it.
Under the "General" tab, click on "Delete Files" in the Temporary Internet Files section, and click on "Clear History" in the history section.
Please note: I am much more familiar with Netscape than Internet Explorer. I am not absolutely certain that these are the only steps to clear the IE memory, but it does definitely clear the memory so that the average user will not be able to follow your footsteps.
