"Life isn't about keeping score. It's not about how many people call you and it's not about who you've dated, are dating, or haven't dated at all. It isn't about who you've kissed, what sport you play, or which guy or girl likes you. It's not about your shoes or your hair or the color of your skin or where you live or go to school. In fact, it's not about grades, money, clothes, or colleges that accept you or not. Life isn't about if you have lots of friends, or if you are alone, and it's not about how accepted or unaccepted you are. Life just isn't about that. But life is about who you love and who you hurt. It's about how you feel about yourself. It's about trust, happiness, and compassion. It's about sticking up for your friends and replacing inner hate with love. Life is about avoiding jealousy, overcoming ignorance, and building confidence. It's about what you say and what you mean. It's about seeing people for who they are and not what they have. Most of all, it is about choosing to use your life to touch someone else's in a way that could never have been achieved otherwise. These choices are what life's about."

A philosophy professor has started his lecture by filling up a glass jar with stones, 5cm in diameter. He asked the students if the jar was full. Yes, was the answer.
Then he took a box of gravel (small stones) and started to fill it in the jar. After the gravel has filled the space between the large stones, they established that the jar was full again. Then the professor took a box of sand, and poured the sand in the jar. Certainly the sand has filled all the remaining space.
"And now" - said the professor "notice, that this is Your life". The stones are the important things, your family, your partner, your health, your children. If you lost everything else, your life would still remain complete. The gravel are the things, which do yet count, like your job, your house, your car. The sand is the rest, the things of little importance. If you pour the sand first in the jar, no space remains for the stones. The same thing happens to your life. If you waste your time and energies on unimportant things, there will not be enough place for the things, which really are important. Pay attention to the things, which are principally necessary for your happiness. Play with your children, go to the doctor regularly to check your state of health, go and dance with your wife. You will always have time to work, clean up, invite guests. Pay attention on the stones first, they are the things which really matter. Set up the priorities. The rest is just sand".
