This heartbreaker is Detroit's ace goaltender. Chris was the top goalie during the 96-97 season, but he lost the starting position to his mentor Mike Vernon. Ozzie was the favorite with every Detroit fan during the regular season, so the decsion of Vernon at the net for the playoffs threw him and most everyone else off. Since Vernon was traded to San Jose, Chris is Detroit's top goalie. He and Kevin Hodson shared the net last season, and Chris proved to everyone that he had what it takes to be a Stanley Cup-Winning goaltender. And the future seems to be very bright for this young prospect.
