Kirk Maltby

Kirk Maltby, traded from Edmonton in March of '96 to Detroit, to become a member of the "Grind" line."I play a grinding style, mukking it out in the corners," Kirk explains about his game. The grind line became one of the most exciting lines to watch during the '97 playoffs, and gained noteriety in the league. Kirk also gained notoriety during the playoffs by making the May cover of Sports Illustrated."We give Malts a lot of crap for his S.I. photo," said teamate Darren McCarty."We call him S.I., but he dishes it out just as much as he receives, so I don't feel sorry for him." said teammate Aaron Ward. And with his good looks, Kirk could definitely be a cover model.

From what I have seen and read about Kirk, he seems to be a great guy, and he seems to be the prankster on the team. Kirk is a talented player, and he belongs here in Detroit where he has gained respect from the fans for his performance in the playoffs.
