Igor Larinov, known to some as one of the most intelligent hockey players in the league, joined the Wings in 1995 after playing for San Jose. He too was born in Russia and at 37 years old, has played many years of hockey. Igor was a part of the Soviet Red Army with Fetisov and Konstantinov. Igor, Slava Fetisov, And Slava Kozlov brought the cup home to show mother Russia last summer. Larionov is a good friend of Konstaninov's and was at his bedside everyday while Vladdy struggled to recover from the accident.
Slava Fetisov, born in Moscow, Russia, was obtained from New Jersey in 1995 to become a RedWing. At 39 years old, he has alot of experience and intelligence about the game of hockey. In fact, in Russia he won the 'honored masters of sport award. He, with all of the Russians on the team combined as the Russian five, plays a unique and fast style of hockey that is hard to keep up with in North America. Shortly after the celebration of winning the cup, Slava was involved in the limo accident with Vladimir Konstantinov and their trainer Sergei. Thank god that Slava came out alright, but our prayers are still needed for thr recovery of Sergei and Vladdy. Slava retired in July of 1998, and is now the assistant coach of the New Jersey Devils- thanks for all of your hard work and dedication Slava!
