Aquired in the first round of the draft in 1983, Captain Steve Yzerman is not only one of the greatest players to ever take the ice, but he is also one of the best human beings god has created. There are so many stories about what Stevie has done for the community, and just about how he is such a classy guy, not to mention very good-looking. He has always been a leader, and he finally lead his team all the way to the Stanley Cup. "He's the guy people in this city wanted to see holding the cup," said Wings scout Mark Howe. "This is how fairy tales are supposed to end." Steve is also very respected in the NHL. Teamates wanted to win the cup just for Stevie, he is their leader, and their teacher."Everybody's quiet, they just stop what they are doing and listen to what Stevie has to say." Said teamate Kris Draper.
In the lockeroom after winning the championship with cup in hand, Stevie asks "Is this the real one or the replica? This is the real one? The one that's been around forever?"
