Ontogeny Recapitulates Phylogeny.
Do those sound like big words?
Well, they need to be. This theory was a
Big Lie.
ontogeny: "the development of an individual from a fertilized ovum to maturity, as contrasted with the development of a group or species ( phylogeny )"
recapitulate: (verb)
1. to recap (formal)
2. to repeat stages from the evolution of the species during the embryonic period of an animal's life
phylogeny: (noun) the development over time of a species, genus, or group, as contrasted with the development of an individual ( ontogeny )
Ontogeny Recapitulates Phylogeny, also known as "Biogenetic Law" is not a "Law" of Science at all. It is only a theory.
A theory that was proven wrong many years ago.
Despite this, it still remains in many of your children’s Public school textbooks. And in many it is still taught as a fact.

A quick summary of this theory's claims are:
During the human embryonic development, the embryo
"recapitulates" (or repeats) mans Evolutionary stages,
from a fish to a chicken, to a dog, to a man.
Included in his claims are what Haeckel said was "clearly a yolk sac" (from our days as a chicken..), a lizards tail (from when we were reptiles), and gill slits (from when our ancestors were fish).
None of the above is true.
Dr. Spock is one of the most famous pediatricians in the world. He is also the author of many best selling books. Read the following quote from his book "Baby and Child Care" and be sure to notice just how much Haeckel’s "theory" influenced the world.
"Each child as he develops is retracing the whole history of mankind, physically and spiritually, step by step. A baby starts off in the womb as a single tiny cell, just the way the first living thing appeared in the ocean. Weeks later, as he lies in the amniotic fluid of the womb, he has gills like a fish..."

Haeckel used the following chart to show that we resemble these animals. This is how he drew the embryos of each.

Ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny was embraced by many people because they could use it to justify things like abortion. But the main reason people believed it, was because the only alternative to believing in Evolution, was to believe in God.
"In seeking to understand why the Haeckelian view persisted so long, we have also to consider the alternatives. We often are highly conservative and will hold to a viewpoint longer than is justified when there is no alternative or, worse, when the logical alternative upsets the rest of our world view."

Many Evolutionists will now admit that Haeckel’s theory was actually a fraud. Even they realize that this false information needs to be removed from the textbooks.
"The core scientific issue remains unchanged: Haeckel's drawings in 1874 are substantially fabricated. In support of his view, I note that his oldest "fish" images is made up of bits and pieces from different animals- some of them mythical . It is not unreasonable to characterize this as "faking".... Sadly, it is the discredited 1874 drawings that are used I so many British and American Biology textbooks today."
