| Pokémon, I Choose You! | This is the very first episode.
In this episode, Ash (the main character) sleeps in on his day to get his first pokémon. When he wakes up, he runs to Professor Oak's lab to get his pokémon, but they are all gone! Oak says that there is one left but there is a problem with it. The one pokémon left is Pikachu, and the problem is that it shocks people. Ash says goodbye to his mom before he goes on his pokémon journey. Pikachu will not go back inside his Pokéball, so Ash has to drag him with a rope. Pikachu and Ash do not get along. He fails to catch a Pidgey, so he throws a rock at what he thinks is one. It is actually a Spearow, and it calls it's friends. They chase Ash and Pikachu until they reach a cliff. They jump off it and get swept away in a river. Misty, another character, hooks Ash with her fishing pole, saving him. However, Ash steals her bike and rides it towards Viridian City because the Spearows are still chasing him. He crashes and the Spearows attack them. Ash risks his life to save Pikachu, and convinces him to help. Pikachu uses his electric attack to ward off the Spearows, except it knocks them both out (and destroys Misty's bike). When they wake up, they see a huge bird in the sky. Pikachu ends up liking Ash, and they head towards the Viridian City Pokémon Center. | Pikachu | Pokémon Emergency! | This episode introduces Team Rocket, the villians of the show.
In this episode Ash rushes to the pokémon center in Viridian City, but is stopped by Officer Jenny, because she thinks he is stealing Pikachu. He shows her his pokédex to prove he's not, and Jenny drives him to the Pokémon Center. When they get there, Ash is forced to wait outside while Nurse Joy heals Pikachu. Ash calls his mom, then recieves a call from Prof. Oak. Misty finds Ash and yells at him because of her bike. Team Rocket then attacks and says their motto. Ash, Misty, and Joy, go too where the pokémon are stored and start transfering them to Pewter City (with the help of many other Pikachus). Team Rocket is finally driven away by the help of all the Pikachus (including Ash's). Ash and Misty then go to the Viridian Forest on their way to Pewter City. |

| Ash Catches a Pokémon | In this episode Ash catches his first pokémon.
The show starts out with Ash catching a Caterpie in Viridian Forest, which Misty does not like. This hurts the Caterpie's feelings. They then go to bed and Caterpie dreams of becoming Butterfree. Misty wakes up with Caterpie next to her. They then see a Pidgeotto, and Ash sends out Caterpie to battle. Caterpie is easily defeated since birds are strong against bugs. Ash then sends out Pikachu, which defeats Pidgeotto. Ash then captures Pidgeotto in his Pokéball. After that Team Rocket shows up and does their motto. Ash sends out Pikachu to do battle but it is disabled by a sludge attack by Koffing. He then sends out Pidgeotto, which does good but still loses. He finally sends out his Caterpie, and Team Rocket laughs at it. However, Caterpie ends up using string shot to enravel both Koffing, Ekans, and Meowth in silk. After the battle, Caterpie evolves into a Metapod. Ash and Misty then continue their trek through Viridian Forest. |
