Detroit Trip: Picture Itinerary

Okay, so I was really in Bloomfield Hills, not Detroit, but it's in the general vicinity of Detroit, and I was scared out of my mind to drive there by myself, so I'm counting it. Anyhow, here's a brief look at the sights that interested (or, at least, involved) me most while I was there. For more, read my weblog entry for April 2, 2003, as that gives a lot of personal insight and gory details of my impression of the town. I'll try to be gentle on the picture page...

This is a picture I took while driving to Detroit. It's early on in the trip at the time of this picture-taking, as the clouds became more frequent along the way. It was overcast by the time I got there, but not really dark or stormy.

This is the "Courtyard by Marriott", where I stayed. It was a nice hotel. Nothing fancy, but the staffpeople were nice.

This is Pulte Homes, the building in which my training seminar was held. It's all shiny and stuff on the outside, but the bathroom seems to be missing a few lightbulbs.

This is a little pond that was right across the street from Pulte Homes. I found it much more interesting than the building.

This is the heron that landed next to the interesting pond.

This is a bigger picture of the heron that landed next to the interesting pond. I think it was trying to hide behind its feathers.

Friday was a really cold morning -- there was a thin layer of ice over everything.

Let me explain my computer skills to you: On Monday, I was already hacking the VCS scripts -- something we weren't taught how to do until Friday. However, it took me until Friday (that's 5 days of effort) to actually win a game of Spider.

Here's a disturbing image you never want to see: the grill of a semi facing you down your lane....
