Foot Positions for Kicks and Stretches



Ball-strike position:
Pull the heel back so that the top of the foot is on the same plane as the shin-bone. Then, pull the toes back so that the ball of the foot is projected forward. When kicking, the ball of the foot strikes.

Knife-edge position:
Pull the instep back so that the top of the foot is on the same plane as the outside of the leg. Then, pull the toes back so that the edge of the heel is projected forward. When kicking, the edge of the heel strikes.

Heel-strike position:
Pull the toes back so that the heel projects forward. When kicking, either the ball of the foot or the heel will be used to strike.
