The sealed enclosure is easiest of subwoofer enclosures to build because it's basically just a box with four walls. It has the best transient response (compared to other enclosure types) and has a very shallow low-frequency roll-off (-12 dB/octave). It is also among the easiest to design due to simple trade-offs that can be utilized and ease of calculations (or use of computer programs).

Design Procedure

1. You must decide which variable you will manipulate to achieve your desired box characteristics, either Qtc or Vb. Once you decide, you can procede to calculate either Qtc or Vb (depending on which one you chose to manipulate) the in-box resonance of the system (Fb), the beginning of low-frequency roll-off (F3), and the peak in the response (if any).
