The Unreleased Culture Club page was created as a collaboration between myself and the webmasters of the now-defunct Culture Club site Global Culture, Alison Hay and Matt Jackson, in 1999.

Global Culture was easily the best Culture Club site on the 'net, with photos, video, audio, articles and much more straight from the pages of Alison's detailed photo albums and recollections of life as part of the Culture Club circus in the 80s.

Now that Global Culture is no longer online, and with permission from Alison, I now present the Culture Club unreleased lyrics page in its entirety - where there are no lyrics available, there's at least a date as to when it was recorded and/or anecdotes about its recording.

1980

The Mask

I want you to detect the fraud in me
I want to die amid applause and be
Framed forever in eternity
Make a mask for me
According to George (Smash Hits Yearbook, 1985): "(The first song I ever wrote) was called "The Mask" but I didn't write the words. I stole them off a friend of mine called Myra who wrote poems, and changed them a bit... It was very dirgey, very much post-punk type music.

1981-82

The Eyes Of Medusa

The eyes of Medusa control and compel
To love I surrender, I'm under his spell
He loves me, he hates me, he knows me too well

George says (Take It Like A Man, with Spencer Bright, 1995): "Medusa was a bitter camp ditty I'd written about Kirk, the music was a real mish-mash, Bow Wow Wow meets soca on the road to Cairo. I didn't know what to make of it - it was such a big thing to be putting my words to music... The engineer stopped me singing Medusa all concerned. 'Excuse me, you're singing "he" instead of "she".' I was agitated and assured him it was deliberate. I'd never considered the gender realities of a pop song. Jon said the engineer had a point. It was better to be ambiguous and not alienate people."

I'm An Animal

Alison says: "All I remember of I'm An Animal is:

I'm an animal
I'm an animal - with sexuality!
I'm an animal
I'm an animal - for you.
Ah ah ah ah, don't run away from me
Ah ah ah ah, I'm all for you

If there's more, I can't remember it! This was repeated three or four times with a lot of rhythm guitar in the interims. There might have been one word change later on sexuality for something else, but it doesn't come to mind."

George says (Take It Like A Man, with Spencer Bright, 1995): "... an inane Bow Wow Wow rip off I thought was a definite number one."

Kissing 2 Be Clever

Note: The first Culture Club song written after initial guitarist John Suede was sacked and Roy joined the group. It was one of three songs that Culture Club recorded in their first demo for Virgin. Edited versions of Put It Down and Kissing 2 Be Clever feature on the Culture Club box set, the lyrics on this page are for the complete, unreleased versions.

Alison says: "Put it Down and Kissing 2 Be Clever were among the three songs that Culture Club debuted in their early appearances before being signed to a record company. (The other being a rough version of You Know I'm Not Crazy.) As you know, KTBC was the name of the first album, but there was no song included of that name. Here it is for the first time, the song that sparked the album, and also the madly frantic Put it Down. One or two words in here might be approximated, the tape and original recording were of very poor condition, and are of course, quite old. The songs are 99.9% intact in lyric form, I promise."

Saved by this parade of passion
Was my company
Gave my life for next to nothing
A sane artillery
Is one that kisses 2 be clever
Who is the enemy
It's not me
(not me, not you, not me)

Saved by this persuade-like passion
Sexuality
Gave my heart like fate was nothing
A sane reality
Is one that wishes never, never
What is reality
Show me
(Show me, show me)

Sail on a sea of Pepsi Cola
Shaken at sunrise
Kiss the boy and then employ a very white disguise
Who am I to reconsider
Who am I to fly
In the city they will snigger, ask them why

Swayed by this kiss of passion
Masculinity
Gave my touch without compassion
A sane anatomy
Is one who holds the need forever
But you're not holding me
Hold me
(Hold me, hold me)

Saved by this parade of passion
Was my company
Gave my life for next to nothing
A sane artillery
Is one that kisses 2 be clever
Who is the enemy
It's not me
(not me, no not you, not me)

Laying back, control all over
Kissing to surprise
In the city they consider
You got big wide eyes
Taken in by the attraction of the fast food scene
Put your finger on the trigger
I know where you've been

Saved by this parade of passion
Was my company
Gave my life for next to nothing
A sane artillery
Is one that kisses 2 be clever
Who is the enemy
It's not me
(not me, no not you, not me,
it's not you, not me, no not you, then who?)

Put It Down

Note: Put It Down is known to many fans as "A Situation", the approximated title given after hearing it on the bootleg tape recording from the Regency Suite concert, Jan 1982. Recorded with Kissing To Be Clever and You Know I'm Not Crazy in Culture Club's first demos recorded at Virgin.

(My show)

Put it down, they move this town, they follow with their eyes
Ice cold kisses, fierce surprise
A good, a good disguise
Is all you need to bleed a situation

You know

Pull it back and put on attack, admission in your eyes
Ice cold kisses compromise
A good, a good disguise
Is all you need to bleed a situation

Let go

Put it down they move this town, they follow with their eyes
Ice cold kisses terrorise
A good, a good disguise
Is all you need to bleed a situation

(I could pull it with a bullet)
Down in seven, shine a light boy
(I could pull it with a bullet)
What a wasted revolution
(I could pull it with a bullet)
I'm a white boy, I need confusion
(I could pull it with a bullet)
We're all out together, together forever

Put it down they move this town, they follow with their eyes
Ice cold kisses, fierce surprise
A trump, a good disguise
Is all you need to bleed a situation

(I could pull it with a bullet)
Down in seven, shine a light boy
(I could pull it with a bullet)
What a wasted revolution
(I could pull it with a bullet)
I'm a white boy, I need confusion
(I could pull it with a bullet)
We're all out together, together forever

Sharp Operator

Note: As featured in concert at the Regency Suite, 11 January 1982. Third ever Culture Club appearance, and earliest known recording of a Culture Club concert. Transcription of lyrics to the best of my ability due to poor sound quality.

Aye aye ya know sir... ...game
... it hurts to be insane
Take it in the right lane, rhythm for a street
Take it for your migraine take it to your face
Words will not prevail you if you've got the beat

Sharp operator, sharp operator, sharp operator!
Sharp operator, sharp operator, sharp operator!
Sharp operator, sharp operator, sharp operator!
Sharp operator, sharp operator

Aye aye ya know sir ignorance is fun
Take it on the airways, take it with a gun
So tell me of your brothers flop 'em with your style
Give me plenty rhythm that I can wait a while

Sharp operator, sharp operator, sharp operator!
Sharp operator, sharp operator, sharp operator!
Sharp operator, sharp operator, sharp operator!
Sharp operator, sharp operator

Throwing through the people culture kiss and roll the dice
Hold the things 'til you engulf a love that you despise
You can take the vultures over, spread your wings and fly
I'm holding out to take what's mine you will not be wise

No, no never, no never

Aye aye ya know sir here's for rock and roll
I'm a little crazy but I have a heart of gold
Wrapped it up and try it, you didn't have the time
You left me feeling mellow, what's a life for crime?

Sharp operator, sharp operator, sharp operator!
Sharp operator, sharp operator, sharp operator!
Sharp operator, sharp operator, sharp operator!
Sharp operator, sharp operator

Don't you think you could be bolder looking in my eyes
I look at you at ten years older nothing, no surprises
Couldn't feel asleep much colder love is your disguise
You're holding me for nothing precious, that is why I lie

No no never no be jealous

1984

Clone War

A track to be featured on Waking Up With the House On Fire (which didn't end up on there), George discussed this track in the interview for the Profile pack (a picture disc of the board game featured in the It's A Miracle video clip, plus posters and 36 page booklet).

George says: "The Clone War is won by those who stay one step ahead. Some people make music and create careers for themselves because they want to make some kind of statement and because they enjoy what they're doing; yet once they do it, it becomes like a formula. So the statement we're making is that to some people, a pound is more important than their self-respect of their career. That's what The Clone War is.

The song Clone War is based on the hippy idea as well - you know, apathy. It says

How can you start a revolution
When the revolution is holding hands?
Kissing close ain't no confusion
Sailing boats for another man

It's a Clone War, Clone War
You tread it, forget it if you ain't my kind
Clone War, Clone War
Remember I'm the first in line

Me I lift and separate
They are only surrogate

... which is what the song is about. I just think that you've got to make things real. I like the hippy sentiments, but I don't agree that tishoo tishoo we all fall down is the way to change things. But by the same token, what Jon says is that you can't harangue people, so you have to do it in your own way. I think if you can do it in an intelligent, sensual way, with music and with your words... we get a lot of response to that."

1985

Woman

Assumed to be an early version of God Thank You Woman.

Inequality

George wrote Inequality "about immigrant slave labour in America. Jon and Roy said the lyrics were patronising.

What if you're a Mexican,
What if you're an Indian,
What if you're a Puerto Rican.

In retrospect the lyrics were naive. I didn't consider how they would be perceived: they only had to make sense to me. Inequality was blanded out and became the sickly sweet Heaven's Children." (excerpt from "Take It Like A Man", with Spencer Bright, 1995)

Forgotten Guy

Written in 1985 for From Luxury To Heartache but never recorded. George also had plans to record this as a B-Side to Keep Me In Mind, which didn't eventuate.

Every time he walks out of the bedroom,
Looking brash and buttoning his fly
I always look and laugh and say there's something
Something wrong with my forgotten guy.

Looking tough is all he ever wanted, looking cool
But on the other hand,
Love is strange but love is built on something
Something that is hard to understand.

Alright Tonight

The original tenth track on From Luxury To Heartache, replaced by Sexuality. Was written & recorded in Sept. 1985 in the same sessions that produced Move Away.

Darlin' I will wait
For another day like this
All my life I'll hang around
Waiting for another kiss

I would sacrifice my life
Just to wallow in such bliss
But will I get it right
We can squabble, we can fight
But don't lose our love tonight

Cos I promise I will cry
Baby I would even die
Because you're (ooh never never)
Alright tonight

I promise to be here (ooh never never)
Alright tonight
I promise to be near
Alright tonight

Because I pray, I pray
Because I pray, my life away
It's a revolution
Just a revolution
It's a revolution yeah

What Have I Got To Lose?

Don't get up early
Don't have to plan my day
Ain't nothing happening since you went away

(excerpt from 'Take It Like A Man', with Spencer Bright, 1995)

In The Morning

In the morning
I'm gonna say I love you
In the morning
Will you still be there

In the morning
I'll reach out just to touch you
In the morning
Tell me will you care

Because I love you baby
Doesn't matter if you don't feel the same
I said I need you baby
Wanna hold you in my arms
Again and again and again

In the morning
I'm gonna say I love you
In the morning
Will you still be there

In the morning
I'll reach out just to touch you
In the morning
Will you still be there

Because I love you baby
Doesn't matter if you don't feel the same
I said I need you baby
Wanna hold you in my arms
Again and again and again

You can take my yesterdays away
I will beg you oh baby won't you stay
Oh I need you yes I need you now

In the morning
I'm gonna say... fuck you
In the morning
Will you still be there

I love you baby
Doesn't matter if you don't feel the same
I said I need you baby
Wanna hold you in my arms
Again and again and again

1989

Alison says: "In 1989, many songs were written for the reunion of Culture Club. Most were written in Brighton, in the South of England (and later, one or two in my house in LA) in a residential recording studio over 3 crazy weeks that George still tells stories about. Let us just say that no-one was in their most mature or sane state of mind.

Virgin records turned the demos down flat at first, but agreed to record just a couple with proper production, one of which was I Need Love. I still think this is one of their finest ballads, but no one was happy with the production in the end, and it was shelved. Also to come out of this session was I Just Wanna Be Loved, which in the version here is almost as intact as you hear it today, if a little bit more Jamaican sounding.

In my opinion, only one other song from this batch would be worth rescuing, Beautiful Fool, which was a daring departure into an Arabic sound long before Madonna et al went there. In the end, listening to them, I realize that Virgin were right about the songs, with a couple of exceptions. Here are the lost sessions from 1989 then."

George says: "Throughout the year, Tony (Gordon, Culture Club's manager) had been hinting about Culture Club making another album. I was in several minds. We had a cold meeting at our lawyer's office and decided to try writing some songs, no promises. It was a voyeuristic experience not to be missed. That July we holed up at Music Farm Studios in West Sussex. It was more fun than I expected. We drank a lot of wine and surprised ourselves by writing some great songs... (they) were brilliant, but they still had a nostalgic eighties feel to them. My work with More Protein was in the moment.

I (later) met with Culture Club at Roy's flash house in the Hollywood Hills. I had to laugh at the place with its swimming pool and remote control gates... We worked on some new songs in Roy's studio. We were all beaming that we'd written a Beatles-style classic, "I Need Love"... Somehow it was decided that we would cut three tracks with (producer) Peter Asher.

Recording with Culture Club began shortly before Christmas with instant recriminations. No one agreed with Peter Asher's choice of songs and yet we were committing them to two-inch. We recorded and boarded at the Wool Hill Studios in Somerset. Roy and Jon acted like they were Phil Spector and Quincy Jones. Mikey and I were shut out of the recording. I didn't fight, I hated the way it was sounding and couldn't be convinced otherwise. One song, 'Life Has Rules', was stripped of its irony. I wanted it to sound like New Order, not Howard Jones... I didn't hold out much for the new mature Culture Club." (from Take It Like A Man, with Spencer Bright, 1995)

Life Has Rules

Heaven knows we're all the same
But God must play a silly game on all of you
I thought about it for a while
But I could never raise a smile in front of you

Some things come to me when I'm sleeping
Some things come to me when I'm dreaming

Life has rules
Don't tell me what to do
I fight and always lose when I'm in love

Heaven knows it's not a game
But I have come to pass the blame on all of you
I see no sadness in your eyes
But you cannot apologise for what you do

Some things come to me when I'm sleeping
Some things come to me while I'm dreaming

Life has rules
Don't tell me what to do
I fight and always lose when I'm in love

Life has rules
Don't tell me what to do
I fight and always lose when I'm in love

Heaven knows we're all the same
But God must play a silly game on all of you
I thought about it for a while
But I could never raise a smile in front of you

Some things come to me while I'm sleeping
And some things come to me when I'm dreaming

Life has rules
Don't tell me what to do
I find I always lose when I'm in love

Life has rules
Don't tell me what to do
I find I always lose when I'm in love

Life has rules
Don't tell me what to choose
I fight and always lose when I'm in love

Adrian's Wall

I met a boy, he had a wicked face
He said, spotlight soon, gonna have to strike my pace
I looked at him, I said you're right,
But you won't get there by standing in my light

Ordinary people, they don't get the chance
Ordinary people, they don't get to dance, no, no, no

Everybody wants to be a star
Because what you do is really what you are
All of us are fragile we are small
But nothing is as high as Adrian's Wall

Adrian's Wall

I met a boy he was a beauty zone
He was bright at night but very quiet on the phone
He said fame, that's all I need
I said go then boy, but be prepared to bleed

Ordinary people, they don't get the chance
Ordinary people they don't get to dance, no, no, no

Everybody wants to be a star
Because what you do is really what you are
All of us are fragile, we're so small
But nothing is as high as Adrian's Wall

Everybody wants to be a star
Cause those things they do, they make you want you are
All of us are fragile, we're so small
But nothing is as high as Adrian's Wall

Adrian's Wall

I met a boy but one day he was gone
He looked at me, I said how could you be so wrong
The world will spin until we drop
As I say to you, I hope you reach the top

Everybody wants to be a star
Because what you do is really what you are
All of us are fragile, we're so small
But nothing is as high as Adrian's Wall

Adrian's Wall, oh yeah-yeah

Everybody wants to be a star
Cause those things they do they make you what you are
All of us are fragile, we're so small

Moving Muscle

Make it hot but you won't make it happen
Moving muscle baby
Make it hot and it will happen for you

Must they tell you that it's over
Must they tell you it's the end

I don't want your money
I don't want your time
All I want is here, what is mine

Moving muscle baby
Make it hot it won't make it happen
Make it hot but it won't make it happen

Change Your Mind

Oh baby
Can you hear me?

Take me as I am, here I stand a desperate man
The world is changing and I don't know who I am
I know some people, you know violence is their cause
The world ain't pretty, you've got mine but I've got yours

The danger is that we've come to know too much
And if we push it baby, we might run out of luck, so

If you change your mind
If you change your mind
If you change your mind
Call me

If you change your mind
Only if you change your mind
If you change your mind
Call me

Take me for the fool that you really know I am
I'll be good to you but you have to understand
You and me, well we're so many worlds apart
I say I love you and I say it with my heart

The danger is that we've come to know too much
And if we push it baby, we might run out of luck, so

If you change your mind
If you change your mind
If you change your mind
Oh, call me

If you change your mind
Only if you change your mind
If you change your mind
Call me

The world is changing and I don't know what to do
The world is changing, well how does it look to you

Oh baby, if you change your mind
Just call me baby

If you change your mind
If you change your mind
If you change your mind
Call me, oh baby

If you change your mind
If you change your mind
If you change your mind
Oh baby

If you change your mind
Only if you change your mind
If you change your mind
Call me

Pride
Don't talk about pride

Yesterday you were feeling strong
But now it's changing, oh what a shame
It takes nothing to admit you're wrong
But you would rather play the game

I believe there is love somewhere
Somewhere there for you and me to share
I believe there is love somewhere
But I will find it? I'll search everywhere

Pride won't get you nowhere
Pride won't get you nowhere

Yesterday you were feeling strong
But now it's changed, oh what a shame
It takes nothing to admit you're wrong
But you would rather play the game

I believe there is love somewhere
Somewhere there for you and me to share
I believe there is love somewhere
I'm gonna find it, I'll search everywhere

Pride won't get you nowhere, oh baby
Pride won't get you nowhere, oh baby
Pride won't get you nowhere
Pride won't get you nowhere baby

When all your dreams have passed you by
When there's no one left to cry
When you're standing all alone
Don't you call me, 'cos I will be gone

Yes I'll be gone baby

I believe there is love somewhere
Somewhere there for you and me to share
I believe there is love somewhere
I'm gonna find it, I'll search everywhere

Pride won't get you nowhere (won't get you nowhere)
Pride won't get you nowhere (go, keep on searching)

Beautiful Fool

I collect your letters
I recall your laughing eyes
Warmer than a sweater
Higher than the highest high

You always say that I want too much
You always say that I want too much
But its not enough

There's nothing I wouldn't do
For a beautiful fool like you
There's nothing I would not do
To get all my hands on you

When I called you angel
I forgot to clip your wings
Lower than the devil
Is the bird that never sings

You always say that I want too much
You always say that I want too much
But it's not enough

There's nothing I wouldn't do
For a beautiful fool like you
There's nothing I would not say
To drive all your friends away

There's nothing I wouldn't do
No nothing I wouldn't do

All my friends are laughing
As they wait for my demise
But destiny has told me
Never take the easy ride

You always say that I want too much
You always say that I want too much
Oh, but it's not enough

There's nothing I wouldn't do
For a beautiful fool like you
There's nothing I would not do
To get all my hands on you

There's nothing I would not say
To drive all your friends away
There's nothing I would not do
For a beautiful fool like you

There's nothing I wouldn't do
No, nothing I wouldn't do

Pain In Your Heart

You think love is a thorn that was placed in your heart
But I know pride is the thing that will keep us apart
I will always love you
And I speak highly of you

You keep saying there's an awful pain in your heart
I love you know like I loved you right from the start
It's easy to fall apart

You think love is a thorn that was placed in your side, I know
I love you now and I ain't got nothing to hide, oh no
I will always love you
And I'll, I'll speak highly of you

You keep saying there's an awful pain in your heart
I love you now like I loved you right from the start

You keep saying there's an awful pain in your heart
I love you now like I loved you right from the start

It's easy to fall apart
Too easy to fall apart

I will always love you
And I'll, I'll speak highly of you

You keep saying there's an awful pain in your heart
I love you now like I loved you right from the start

You keep saying there's an awful pain in your heart
I love you now like I loved you right from the start

It's easy to fall apart
Too easy to fall apart

You keep saying there's an awful pain in your heart
I love you now like I loved you right from the start

Love Ain't Gonna Find The Answer

People tell me beauty is a lie
I never question I just start to cry
Maybe I've been there at least a thousand times
Is this the bullet to pay for all my crimes

Is it over
I wanna know, is it over
Tell me now, is it so

Love ain't gonna find the answer
No way baby, Love ain't gonna find the answer, oh no
Love ain't gonna find the answer
No way baby, Love ain't gonna find the answer, oh no

Here's a question maybe I just might answer
Will I find him
Will he make some room for somebody
Who's had so many lovers
For somebody who won't take no for an answer

Is it over
Tell me now is it so

Love ain't gonna find the answer, no way baby
Love ain't gonna find the answer, oh no
Love ain't gonna find the answer
No way baby, Love ain't gonna find the answer, oh no

Is it over
I wanna know, is it over
Tell me now, is it so

Love ain't gonna find the answer
No way baby, Love ain't gonna find the answer, oh no
Love ain't gonna find the answer
No way baby, Love ain't gonna find the answer, oh no

Starship

Tragedy is such a beautiful word
But not even you can help me now

It's not enough that you love me baby
It's not enough that you say you feel this way
I walk alone in this life
And I let nothing stand in my way

Say you want to love
Put yourself above this feeling now
Time to spread your wings
Forget about the things that pulled you down
Leaving the world behind

When you speak, you speak like a fool, yes you do
So many things that we can never change, oh no

It's not enough that you need me baby
It's not enough that you say you feel this way
I walk alone in this life
And I can't let nothing stand in my way

Say you want to love
Put yourself above this feeling now
It's time to spread your wings
Forget about the things that pulled you down

Say you want to love
Put yourself above this feeling now
It's time to spread your wings
Forget about the things that hold you down
Leaving the world behind

You know I needed you baby
You just turned around and said good-bye
Now that you need me baby
I can hear you say
I can hear you say

You need love today

It's not enough that you love me baby
It's not enough that you say you feel this way
I walk alone in this life
And I can't let nothing stand in my way

Say you want to love
Put yourself above this feeling now
It's time to spread your wings
Forget about the things that hold you down

Say you want to love
Put yourself above this feeling now
It's time to spread your wings
Forget about the things that hold you down

Moody People

See that black boy over there
Solid gold teeth and a vacant stare
Pay no mind to what you see
He ain't what he wants to be

Some people I know they think I've wasted my life
There's nothing wrong with that
Some people I know think I've wasted my life
's got nothing to do with that, I'll tell you where I'm at

I'm one of those moody people
Moody face, moody hair
I'm one of those moody people
I never lose, I do, I dare

See that white boy throwing shade
Doesn't know his bed is made
Everybody wants to be
Wrapped up in their poverty

Some people I know they think I've wasted my life
There's nothing wrong with that
Some people I know think I've wasted my life
Got nothing to do with that, I'll tell you where I'm at

I'm one of those moody people
Moody face, moody shoes
I'm one of those moody people
Too moody, I'll never lose

I'm one of those moody people
Moody face, moody eyes
I'm one of those moody people
Moody, I do, I dare

So I said to him, get a hold of yourself
Moody people always drag me down
He looked at me, he said, shit
Brother you don't know who I am

Some people I know they think I've wasted my life
There's nothing wrong with that
Some people I know think I've wasted my life
's got nothing to do with that, I'll tell you where I'm at

I'm one of those moody people
Moody face, moody eyes
I'm one of those moody people
Moody, I do, I dare

Rosary

Here I clutch my rosaries
And picture God a man
He is standing right in front of me
Yes he knows just what I am

I am frightened by this moment
And the things I can't reveal
He says hold on, you know I love you still

I'll be glad when it's over
And the rain has washed away every last bit of hope I have inside
I'm afraid at this moment
I have nothing left to save, what a world for a fool and his pride

If you should forget just where you are going to
If you should forget just who you are
The road ahead is hard, the world is shallow too
Remember I will be your guiding star

Take me to the river
'Cos the desert is too wide
I'm not asking for redemption
For the things I feel inside

When you found me here in darkness
I was cursing at my fate
Before you leave me
Please tell me it is not too late

I'll be glad when it's over
And the rain has washed away every last bit of hope I have inside
I'm afraid at this moment
I have nothing left to save, what a world for a fool and his pride

If you should forget just where you're going to
If you should forget just who you are
The road ahead is hard, the world is shallow too
Remember I will be your guiding star

I'll be glad when it's over
And the rain has washed away every last bit of hope I have inside
I'm afraid at this moment
I have nothing left to save, what a world for a fool and his pride

What a world for a fool and his pride
What a world for a fool and his pride
What a world for a fool and his pride

I Need Love

Why do you call me when you know that I'm not at home
Why do you laugh when I tell you I was on my own
All I can do is sit around and hope that you might call
All I can do is sit around and hope that I don't fall
Into the trap of loving you again

Why do you look at other people when we're on the street
Your friends, they laugh at me, I know they think I'm weak
All I can do is wish that I had never seen your face
But when I kiss somebody new, it's always you I taste
And so I waste my life on loving you

I need love, but I'm not sure about it
I need love but I can live without it
What you know is not enough to show my heart

Why do you move in the night when our bodies touch
Your lips are cold these days, you say I want too much
All I can do is wish for you a life of misery
You took my love but now you say that you need to breathe
I don't believe a single word you say, no, no

I need love but I'm not sure about it
I need love but I can live without it
What you know is not enough to show my heart, my heart

I need love but I'm not sure about it
I need love but I can live without it
What you know is not enough to show my heart, my heart

What you know is not enough to show my heart

Why?

George mentioned this song title on Multicultural Club flexi #19 as one of the three songs being recorded with Culture Club, and Peter Asher producing. He says it's his favourite of the demos and is a ballad.
