1974 Trans Am Air Profile

The Pontiac Trans Ams of the 1970's were race bred designed cars that employed all the latest technology of the day. The engineers at PMD did a superb job of combining form & function in a car that was not just pleasing to the eye,
but also brought new meaning to the term "High Performance."

Back in June of 1973, Car And Driver Magazine did a comprehensive test of fifteen of the top high performance tires available at that time. Of all the vehicles at Car & Drivers command, they chose to use the Super Duty 455 Pontiac Trans Am. It not only offered, in the words of C&D, "Detroit's Most Powerful Engine," but it also had a .80G cornering capability on bias ply tires!
That's a number that rivaled most of Europe's best.

The designers also took the approach of making all it's body effects functional. Many of the cars on the road had protrusions, inlets and outlets that were added for looks only, but not the Trans Am. Everything served a purpose which added to this machines' all around performance capabilities. It was not just another pretty face. From burning rubber down the quarter mile, to hugging the road through a curve, to cruising along at speed down the highway, the Trans Am does it all with
Power, Grace & Style!
