STAGE TWO: Questioning:

”What is that shrug-like thing Joey’s constantly doing?”
”Could Dawson be any more oblivious?”
”Pacey/Dawson/Joey etc. is so hot,”
Typified by:
Trying to understand exactly what Joey’s reasons for constantly breaking up with Dawson are.

STAGE THREE: Watching:
Typical comment:
”Shut up, I’m trying to watch this,”
”I finally understand and like Jen”
Typified by:
realising that Dawson’s Creek is no ordinary teen drama, normal rules do not apply.

STAGE FOUR: Addiction:
Typical comment:
”I really want Jen to be loved and feel worthy,”
”It’s okay, I’m taping this, and there’s always the repeat,”
Typified by:
being furious if someone on the show acts out of character
feeling almost shakey with excitement every time your favourite couple almost get together/act all lovey dovey/have a big fight

STAGE FIVE: Expert Addiction:
Typical comment:
”I can’t wait to see ‘I Still Know What You Did Last Summer’ because Freddie Prinze Jnr also starred in ‘She’s All That’ with Rachael Leigh Cook who played Devon in ‘His Leading Lady’”
”The house they use for outside shots of Dawson’s house is actually a real house near Hewletts Creek, North Carolina. I should know, the owners have put a restraining order on me”
Typified by:
becoming an expert on DC Trivia.
having a picture of Dawson’s dad for your screen-saver.
knowing several weeks in advance exactly what is going to happen -- without reading about it.
your furby singing ‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’ more than you do.
generally having no other life to speak of.

STAGE SIX: Beyond Help:
Typical comment:
”I hope Joshua Jackson releases his rendition of ‘New York, New York’ which he sang during Pretty Woman. I could spend this month’s wages on it and help it get to No. 1!”
”How long before Pacey realises it’s me he loves -- not Andie!” (Even if you don’t generally fancy men)
”I wonder if I could get a job working at Screen Play Video?”
”Do you think houses in Wilmington are expensive to rent?”
Typified by:
Sleeping with half of New York just so can relate to Jen’s feelings of being ‘sexualised way too young’
Buying numerous coffee tables to remind you of Gail and Mitch’s sexual antics
Referring to your lounge as ‘The Dawson’s Creek Suite’
Getting sacked/expelled for taking days off to watch your Dawson’s Creek videos for hours on end
Insisting all your friends change their names to fit with the DC character that fits their personality
