This area I have dedicated to thoughts I want to share and things that I have picked up some knowledge on. It may turn out to be more questions than answers but then learning entails that so here goes………
Since we are at the beginning of the year, I have decided to share some thoughts about just that……… BEGINNINGS! Going through life I notice every where I turn, there are beginnings taking place. Whether it is a beginning that's been planned or ones that have taken you completely by surprise, they usually mean growth and that is a good thing. So what if.. the thought you have had about beginning that one thing you have been putting off was only a thought from completion? Too often, we as intelligent beings allow ourselves to be stopped from starting things that will complete us, enrich us, fulfill us, or aid us in being the best we can be. With the start of the New Year I challenge you who have happened onto this page to look within yourself and begin that thing (project, hobby, wish, dream, destiny, or whatever it is to you) that you have been putting off. Take that first step! BEGIN IT! Believe me I don't say these things easily because I know how hard it can be.
I will share a story with you hoping only to inspire you and show how it can begin………… Last year at this time I contemplated beginning something that I have always enjoyed which is writing. I wanted to write a novel and have wanted to for a while so since I had access to the Internet, I used it to look around and see what was out there that might help me. To say that the information I found was overwhelming would be putting it mildly but while I was looking and starting my novel I realized after seeing a lot of pages on the web with all types of information that I wanted to put a webpage up. As I got information about how to do that I pondered on what I would put on this webpage of mine. Though I didn't have my novel ready to put there I had come across a number of poetry pages. I loved to write poetry and I decided that my poetry was something I would like to see in print. So I worked toward that goal and in May of 98' I started my webpage entitled "Lolita's Page" which features some of my poetry. I work to update my page every 7 to 14 days, which means I have to keep writing. Now I don't make it all the time but I do keep it updated on a regular basis and now have 16 poems online. I have had people come by and read them so my work is being seen. Over the past year I have had a chance to talk online to other people who write and that in itself has been a good experience whether we agreed on our views or agreed to disagree.
That was one of my beginnings last year so I know it can be done. All that is needed is a will and a want and a way can be found. One of my beginnings this year is to find a publisher to publish my poems another is to possibly enter a contest or two.
And so this year begins.....
So as I said earlier I challenge you to look within yourself and find that something you want to begin and work toward that goal. I wish you luck with your beginnings as I do myself and I haven't given up on the novel either! :o)
