Trick to get different isp number
This may or may not help your modem
connection speed. It could also set you up
for a long distance isp, be sure to watch the
number that the unit dials.
I was having trouble with slow modems
and disconnects on the first number that my
terminal dials. Whenever I got the second
number it worked better and faster. I called
1800GOWEBTV and asked to change my first
server and got spun. After a bit of
experimentation I found that I could pick
which isp I wanted to connect through.
Now when I connect I unplug the phone line
just after the terminal dials the first
number then reconnect it prior to the minute
time out, before it dials the second isp.
This takes one extra minute when connecting,
but I gain much time surfing. No disconnects,
modem speeds 28.8-31.2 vs the 24.0-26.4 I was
getting on the first ISP number.
