In
1990, Tatyana, an actor, singer and student, was cast as
Ashley Banks on TV's The Fresh Prince of Bel Air;
last year she released her first solo recording, Kiss The
Sky; and now, she's at Harvard University freshman majoring in
anthropology.
- Reality
Show: She
struggles to balance her studies, social life and work (flying out
of Boston to perform on most weekends). "Work
is for my spirit, and school is for my mind. They're
[both] aspects of who I am."
- Living
Idols: Growing
up, Tatyana adored divas Tina Turner and Diana Ross:
"They
did everything I wanted to do."
- Her
Leading Man: Actor,
rapper - and mentor - Will Smith encouraged Tatyana to launch
her solo career. "When
I got the Fresh Prince role, I was like No-one's going to
accept me as a singer",
she says. "But
Will told me I could still do it."
- How
She'll Change the World: She'll
show young people how they, too, can dream and achieve.
"I'
flattered [being] a role model, but I want people to
pursue their specific goals. There are so many things they're
capable of."
