As a bluejay off in the background softly sings
A robin busy gathering worms for her young
A squirrel busy chattering at me
At the top of his lungs
The wind blows by me
Making soft music threw the trees
Off in the distance I can barely make out a
Young fawn eating grass and some leaves
So simple is nature
Down to earth so true
Free of crime and hate
Politics, religion
These things man did create
Wouldn’t it be nice if nature
Could tell us what it sees
For man just takes
What it needs
I often wonder if my children
In 30 years or more
Will get to enjoy this creek side
Or off fighting in some foreign war.
