Streak and Pour

Separating two Pure Cultures from a Mixed Culture of E. coli (white) and Micrococcus luteus (yellow) using the Streak Plate and Pour Plate Methods.


                   
  Figure 1 and 2: Two Pour Plates. Note yellow (luteus colonies) and white (coli colonies). Also note surface colonies are larger than sub-surface (elliptical) colonies. Both plates are examples of  well separated colonies.


Figure 3 and 4: Streak Plate Separation of E. coli
and Micrococcus luteus. Note well separated surface
colonies which are easily distinguished.
