My ducks this year have been getting attacked at night by racoons. My dad moved Spike and Picabo, our dogs closer to the pen to try and keep them away. I started out with 8 babies and in one night i was down to 6! The coons found out how to get between the dogs and hurt some more. We borrowed a live trap from the Annis family.
The first night we had the trap, we put old chicken eggs in it. In the morning we caught a fairly good size coon. You could really put mostly any kind of food in a trap. The second night we put a p-b-j in the trap and caught another big coon. And on the third night we put fish scraps in it and caught another good sized coon. We also caught a possum.
Now that we trapped some of the coons we don't have to worry as much now. =}
